Just wondering what a slight rattling from a subaru motor when it rev's over 3000rpm would indicate?
Obviousely it would get faster and slightly louder as the car rev's harder.
My "friend" told me to find out for him.............

i'm guessing its not main bearings because they make a really deep thumping noise that you cant even really hear. There is a knocking noise that you get when the engine goes from loaded to unloaded that usually means the conrod bearing is about to go.
my guess is that it is a valvetrain or pulley powered accessory that is making the noise. Check for metallic bits in the oil, drain it and get it out into the sun to look for shiny bits.
jon
flygti was stoped n G'ed up to do a a burn out,n as we all no it doesnt take much to get him g'ed, so he did the burnout but who could blame him he had earned it with the effort he put in to be in the cruise and help it go ahead safely

im guessing tappets/lifters
my sis's bf has a subie and it does that alot
If its a big end knock.. you'll hear it at idle... as with tappets valve train associated shiz.. it wont be a broken engine as if I couldn't break an ej22 with 250,000km on it.. you can't !
check all pulleys and such.. make sure nothing is loose on the engine..
