    XF Falcon Driveline Vibration/Noise

Hey, I've got an annoying vibration through the driveline in my XF. It seems to happen different amounts at different revs, and doesnt seem to happen as much (if at all) when it's not in gear. Now I've gone through all underneath the car, and checked to make sure every bolt in sight is as tight as can be, engine mounts are tight, gearbox mount seems fine. I changed the engine and transmission over myself, it was fitted with an EFI 4.1 and an Auto, but I put another EFI 4.1 and a T5 5 Speed Manual in it, could I have missed anything when I did it? I am also concerned about just how harsh and noisy the car is, I understand that having a lowered car with a 2.5" exhaust will be harsher than a normal vehicle, but this is beyond belief, it's like driving a big old 1930's Truck, although it goes & handles quite well. I know the exhaust is hitting on the underside of the car near the fuel tank, and that may create the illusion of driveline vibration, but I'm unsure

    Cheers, Gab

So when does the vibration show up? When you hit 160km/h, or 200km/h? Or perhaps you've really stuck the boot into it this time, and found the vibration at 350km/h?

Yeah it's a shame more people didn't tick the option box that said, "Don't convert to taxi mechanicals seconds after the warrantee runs out."

In all seriousness it's probably the exhaust. You'd be amazed the incredible acoustics you can get by knocking two randomly selected engine parts together.

I can't speak for everyone, but the number of times I've seen second rate exhaust shops fuck up a job (so that it either tears or works loose inside a couple of weeks) on peoples cars is alarming. Which is why if I find a really top notch exhaust place, I rave about it. In this case Glenroy Exhaust (who are now more or less actually in Somerton)
are a class act to say the least.

Might also be worth checking for worn universal joints in the tailshaft.

    Lucky you

200 kmh on 5 cyls = 40 kmh per cyl

    Therefore, 6 cyl = 240 kmh ?
I can't think of anything clever to write in here...so just make something up yourself.

    Tail shaft?

It may sound silly but if you esp. feel the vibration through the seat back then this should be checked.
