    Fiat Nationals - Bathurst Hillclimb

So anyone from here going?? It is on the 21st and 22nd of this month.

    http://www.fiatclubvic.org/index.php...660842312-6452

I am headed down there with Chipper in the 125. I believe BT is going down with the Fiat powered special too. Should be fun, events are as follows:

    -hill climb
    -concourse
    -motorkhana
    -wet t shirt competition*
    -spear-a-spud*
    -go-to-whoa*
    -rust out

*These events may or may not be fictitious.

    Wet t shirt comp

I am going to bring my flimsiest white T shirt just in case the wet t comp is on, and I'd better sharpen my spear, I hit a hard spud last time and dulled the point.

What the hell was I thinking agreeing to drive the 125 all the way to Bathurst with you man? I will never be the same....

I wish I could be there, but already committed. I may be able to make the Hillclimb on Sunday to shoot some photos if I weasel out of the Dyno Day
Maybe I should take dad's 124 Sport for a run, see if someone wants to buy the damned thing

I won't be competing in the motorkhana but will definately be giving the hillclimb a shot on Sunday. Will need to ease it off the line though (no big one wheeler skids ) as these axles have to get us back again.

As for the wet t shirt competition... my moobs will own all!!

Either that or take it out and break it up for parts, you should be able to get rid of it by the end of the weekend if Guido's FIAT breaking capacity is anything to go on

Nah, it's too good to be parted out
Although the Abarth rims would look cool on the old 125.

I ported a head for James Peachey...will be on his 124AC. Will be an interesting event, but too far for a man that need to get a magazine done and a house renovated!

Come on Nero - stop being a big girlie-wuss! If we have to watch Guido flash his man-boobs, then we'll need as many people there as possible to dilute the pain. I promise not to complain if my next copy of the mag is a couple of days late.

What?? You're not entering?? You were my "biggest" competition...

Nafe, unfortunately those wheels will not fit over the brakes. If you happen to have a set of 15x7" CD68's lying around though...

It was sensational. Everyone had a ball. The Mountain is an awsome place to race up. Guido was drunk as a skunk. Norm Singleton won the hillclimb in his X1/9. Rob Judd won the motorkhana in his 126/Lancia. Some other clown won the overall combined result.

And this is me having fun .....

    Well,

All in all, I had a great time.

The car ran really well on the way down, it sounds fantastic with the throttles, but on the way back a problem occured that created more dramas than it was worth...the coil packs packed it in and periodically sent bad signals to the ECU, no ignition sometimes which then cut fuel, farked with the headlights, made the car coff and fluff under load, the bonnet kept coming uncliped, one of the gearbox cross member bolts striped itself, the driveshaft donut lost a bolt and was loose and thumping the underside of the car, fuel fumes filled the cockpit the whole drive, 4th gear selector fork wore out and kept popping 4th when not under load......

Other than that, it ran fine

It sounded fantastic coming up the hill, as did a lot of other cars. BT's little weapon was a great piece of kit, I loved the NIKI, I dubbed it the "Group B Niki" as it looked like an old group B rally car lots of old I-tie shitboxes to look at over the weekend. Got to sit in and have a play with an Intergrale, there were about 5 20V Coupe's, Guido's 125 was the only 125 there, the 2300 Coupe was just beautiful, lots of highlites over the weekend.

Thanks again to Guido for inviting me, I reckon I will go again next year

    Chip

    Edit :

    P.S.

Guido got first in class for the hill climb as well, good on ya sport !!

Hehe, it was not that bad!! More down to lack of preperation time before the event. I should have made sure all the crucial bolts were FT before the trip but did not get the chance.
The car went down there perfectly sans bonnet latch (that was fixed down there by adjusting it). Coil packs are a mystery. Will get some second handy's to trouble shoot. It may also be a problem with lack of voltage. Ah well, gapping the plugs right down has helped for now.

Umm, dont think so, I think Jims is the orange one, this one was a deep blue with a cream leather interior. Just beautiful.

I am confused, first you say that you drove down with Sam, but above, you discuss the Pug's trip home ???

I forgot all about this event, I was at a dyno day on Sunday, but it would have been great to come up and check it out on Saturday...

We all know the Pug only farkes up when I come to see you

I reckon I will drive it down next year if I can get an invite to do the hill climb, I reckon the Pug would do ok It'd have to be able to beat the 128's at the very least

I'll be doing the same in my 1200 Chipper. If they let a turbo 968 run then I'm sure they'll let a little Datsun have a crack.

Yep, Norm put on an impressive show as per usual. Not bad for an old bugger!!

It starts at the beginning of Conrod and ends at McPhillamy under the Holden banner, going up the hill. The dipper is somewhat more daunting going up than down!
