Is that why there haven't been any can pix in this one?

Or have I got that a little bit wrong?

    Anyone help clarify that one?

    LoTeC: Thanks for the clarification

Hey Norbie, looking good - I'm sure everybody needs their garage fumigated from time to time. I hear you are good at outdoor fumigation as well.
    Cheers, Richard

OK so I got my new Autometer gauges hooked up and working, but I'm thinking I might have fucked up with the oil pressure gauge which only goes up to 100psi. It seems any time I give the engine a bit of a rev it goes right off the scale! Admittedly I haven't got the engine properly warmed up yet but still, this isn't good. Can anyone tell me what oil pressure a 2JZ would normally see, hot or cold? Will I have to buy a different gauge? I notice Autometer have a few 150psi and 200psi gauges but not in the carbon fibre series, which is a bit annoying because I want a matched set.

Anyway here's what the gauges look like installed (ignore the double sided tape, that was just there to get them in the correct position):

And here's the oil cooler I mentioned earlier:

It's all starting to look pretty much finished, which makes it all the more frustrating that I can't drive it yet! It will be several weeks at least before I'll have enough spare cash for a tailshaft.

LOL thanks I'll keep that in mind if I get desperate enough.

My dilemma for this week: pay rego or buy a tailshaft and do unregistered skids?

OK fine, I'll pull some gauges out of a 1976 Corona at the wreckers and use those instead.

It's just a shit photo, they're quite easy to read.

No skid pix yet. I've been scouring my garage looking for something to sell so I can buy a tailshaft sooner! Unfortunately I can't seem to part with any of my junk - after all you never know when you might need one of those "one day". The only exception is my old Solex sidedraught carbies (I'd rather give myself cancer than touch carbies again), but I don't know if they're actually worth anything these days?

I should have built one of these instead of the hilux. I reckon I could get one under 1200kg's which is looking to be about the lux's weight

I'm sure one of these would hook up a hell of a lot better. The only problem is they are limited to 12's.....

Nah, semi-trailing arm suspension = little chance of hooking up any good. I should upload the video I have of my last run down the quarter mile, the amount of squat in the suspension (and the subsequent camber changes) is pretty amusing! The Hilux has a live axle so it's always going to get off the line way better.

I got some more stuff done today, finally sorted out a pesky coolant leak and installed one of my Whiteline adjustable swaybars. After starting the engine and letting it warm up I'm becoming more convinced the head needs to come off for a reco, it really is quite smokey at the moment. Head porting TK stylez perhaps?

Good idea Pete. I have a compression tester but it doesn't fit on the 2JZ, I'll see if I can find another one which works.

For anyone who's interested, the video is here:

I just uploaded it so it might not work straight away.

You could always sell organs. It is a sellers market.

So Lotec twisted my arm and I'm buying a pair of HKS 272 degree cams. Anyone care to guess how much power I can expect with this setup?

    - Stock 2JZ-GTE
    - aforementioned cams
    - eBay cheapie manifold
    - GT35R 1.06 rear .70 front
    - 700cc injectors (ex Rz)
    - Haltech E6K (ex Rz)
    - MSD DIS4 (ex Rz)

Actually this is starting to look remarkably similar to Rz's setup apart from manifolds and smaller turbo!
