    1990 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.6 Sportline

Deposit paid, pick up this week.

    1990
    97,400 kms
    Black over grey
    Black leather interior
    2.6 6-cylinder
    Auto
Sportline Option Pack (from my research, this includes, amongst other things: sports interior, lowered sports suspension, smaller steering wheel, different ratio steering)

I first looked at it on Wednesday night and was very impressed with it. Unfortunately, there wasn't a lot of light available so I wanted to reserve judgement until I'd seen it in the daylight.

Took a vehicle critical mate of mine (Coyote - anyone remember him ) with me too look at it on Sunday and even he strongly suggested I should buy it. For a 17 year old car, this thing is in very very good condition. It is a Japanase import. Came to the country in 2005 under the old 15 year import scheme with ~54k kms on it.

Because I paid a few thousand more for it than I was intending to spend, initial plans are limited to tinting the windows. Then I'll probably squirrel some money away for a set of larger MB wheels and then I'll just drive and maintain it for awhile.

    Pics attached.

    Clayton, looks good.
    Piss off the 2.6 for a RB26 .

    I wouldn't mind a W124 myself actually.

If I did do a jap engine swap at some stage (way down the track now) I'd probably stick with the 1 or 2JZ. It has been done a bit in Thailand...

Mate of mine imported one of these as well from Japan except his had the full EVO II kit with a heap of aftermarket suspension bits on it. Had the stock engine and auto, was gutless but great on the freeways.

Nice pickup there Clayto, looks the goods!

If your going to all the efford of a 'JZ' engine transplant IMO you'd be mad to drop a 1JZ in over a 2JZ. Few more dollars initial spend (maybe $1500) but from taking my Aristo to the drags yesterday i pretty much chopped every much much lighter 1JZ Cressida (with mods such as boost, intercooler, exhaust etc) in my very close to stock 1800kg barge (Best time and MPH of 13.9 & 102 MPH).

Having found something that is in such good condition, I now find myself thinking that I probably don't want to root it up either.

I Guess I'll just have to drive it around for awhile and see what I think.

My guess is, the more you drive it, the more you will appreciate what it is about them that make people keep buying them

I must be clearly a poof but i actually don't mind the stocko wheels, i was tempted to change the wheels on the LS400 but decided to hang onto the stockers, just thought it would be nice to keep it all original as it was and still is such a nice car.

You'd only want to put a jap motor in it to make it reliable

    P.S. 2JZ FTW

Was a pretty hot day though, were like 3 MX83 1JZ Cressida's there, i didnt even see 1 crack into the 13's.... i'm pretty confident mine would go faster if i ran it at night too.

Cyato - T20 tint would really set that thing off.
