Importing rules etc

I need some info on imported cars. I know with the Jap stuff, that some cars were imported as "race/rally rego" only or to be used for spares.
Does the same apply for stuff from the USA?
I'm possibly looking to purchase a 89 Vette, which hasn't been complied or rego'd here before, it will be RHD when registered, will i run into any problems...
Where is the best place to get this sort of info?

Best bet is to get in touch with your local vette club on the easiest way. 89 cars are fine to be imported unders SEVS & just need import approval before importation, rego is quite easy if its in good order.

i think it needs to be older than that to be RHD and registered.. Research the hell out of it first, conversions are expensive. I started a thread on this a while back, there were a few links in there that provided a lot of useful information....
