Cheers mate, yea Whitworths on Stirling Hwy Cottesloe is a quality shop.
I did see your post about those Li batteries and man they are just the business.
Where is the rallysprint on at?

Boganplex for rallysprint, 1830 onwards for action stations.
What's with your signature list? You got the last two, others just need more money to get, though SR-71 could be a bastard to get hold of. Start saving....
Yea ok, I will be in Kwinana at CSBP in the morning but will be back home later on, so will have to give it a miss.
We can only dream about such lists. SR-71 would get the best pics for the Facebook randoms pictures or Thread of the Century.

So the Tremec T56 has a solenoid activated reverse lockout, Pretty sure that they used some type of Speed activated signal once above 20km/hr it would energise preventing you going for 6th and getting reverse.
So my diff has ABS wheel speed sensors, is there a way to make that work?
if you mainly want to go round corners and stuff why bother with the T56? i doubt you need more than 4 speeds on most short circuits, i think with the t56 you might have to cut metal
if 4 speed is enough ... Jerico 4 speed would slot straight on the top loader bell and you have an infinite number of ratios available at about $100 per gearset, as well as flat up shifting
for barbs and jacks hill 5 gears would be ample. 6 speeds on the long circut maybe but it all depends on the rear ratio. 3.9 and 1:1 running out of puff in a 4 speed(7200rpm iirc)

Oh, and just put a lockout switch on the shifter for the solenoid lockout.
Gamma has it in Juan.
You got the T56 with the short ratioed 5th and 6th? Should keep pulling well in 5th if you do. 3.9 ish diff?
Survived rallysprint last night. Got well beat by chris' z06 vette. Good times...
Sounds like a plan, so you reckon it would have to be something that I should use that is spring loaded return or use a toggle style,

Yea it's from a BA XR8 and has 0.8 and 0.62 overdrive gears, combined with a choice of 3.45 or 4.11 diff gears currently. the Holden box had the moonshot overdrive of 0.5.
Well done on a solid effort, I remember that Vette last time and he was showing glowing red discs after that short sprint,

Momentary would be a pain, toggle I'd wire in a warning light on the dash. Swings/roundabouts.
Just so we haven't exhausted all avenues, I pretty sure the wheel speed sensor is a hall effect style?, the diff is from a EF XR6, so could you just use that to close a relay that would activate the solenoid? I want to make this foolproof as I can't see myself in the heat of battle remembering to flick a switch on or off.
It's not that I'm likely to use 6th gear during racing but I don't want to be blasting down the freeway and grab reverse? or am I just being a pussy and should just get it going and see if this is an issue?
Wiring is about 90% done, I got a 6pole Decontactor from VSport and have wired it into the negative cable, just have to do a bracket for the stop light switch and wire up the thermofan relay.
Been doing at least 4 hours a night and just ticking things off my list.

You'll find out it won't pick reverse at speed. May have tried to pick sixth in a 5 speed car before.
Looks like 2012 is the year for long term projects to get finished. Your XW, Dave's VK, Clayton's Merc, my Alfa and Cagiva...

Roger that, I'm also skipping reverse lights, horn and wipers at this stage...pfft not necessary.

^^ cheers, been a long slog and as Gamma said above there are a few longtermers getting close to a start up

So I started putting lube in the diff last night, sweet, first drop of fluids after 3years...ahhh
Gearbox manufacturer lists Dexron 3 on the tag on the box, any suggestions besides using that? I was thinking about some Penrite manual Syn oil or the Redline lightweight shockproof.

Had good results with redline and castrol syntrans in my old rx7 s5 box. Shifted much nicer than with normal oil. Syntrax now in my transaxle. But I got no specific knowledge of what to put in tremec. But something to speed up the slow shift would be a plan, so go synthetic for sure.
Mate I would stick with the Dextron III in your box. I'm running a synthetic auto trans fluid in my tremec and have never had a drama. I did use lightwieght manual trans oil at first, but i think it was too thick, and it was pushing it out the breather. Cant wait to see this thing running around the track in anger.

Excellent, Transmax Z is the synthetic version of Dex 3, will procure.
update Gregory?
This is my sig. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My sig is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. My sig, without me, is useless. Without my sig, I am useless.
Far out, time has flown but having a second kid hasn't helped car progress, nonetheless the show must go on, have managed to keep ticking things off.
Have been messing about getting all the brackets laser cut for the power steering, dry sump pump, and idler bracket. Machined up the alloy spacer bosses for the idler pullies to sit on, and also machined up the oil pump drive mandrel, just waiting on a belt to come in.
All this stuff is dummy assembled untill working, then pull it apart, touch up paint, remove washer stacks, etc.
the dry sump pump came with a bunch of used fittings, so bought some -12 hose and made up the suction lines to the pump.
Bought some new front rubber from Coffin from the Federal Fire sale, also bought 4 of used rear tyres from some guy that did two laps in the wet and then sold his car, so at least have spare rear rubber.

Keen to see this thing finished. After riding in the XW at Targa West, I've had a renewed passion for these old beasts..
Was that a white xw at Targa? I went down to Riverside drive to see my brother in law racing and saw that one.

Yeah, it's pretty well sorted. 580HP, quad webers, dry sump, coilovers. I can put you in touch with the guy that owns it if you like.
Sounds sweet, yes I'd be keen to have a chat with him after my first tuning day.
