No Paws D:
My 1974 Datsun 260Z
Well i thought i might as well put this up as i never got around to it and it looks like the Z may be gone very soon.
It all began when my LJ Torana was stolen and trashed thanks so some scum cunts who dumped it at Marsden St School. Here what it looked like in the day. It wasn't much, just a 2.2 red motor with a 3speed Auto. But it was my first car, and this wasn't the way i wanted it to go out.

I had to tow it to a safe house as they stole my battery (!) and luckily some passers by offered for me to store it at their house. Graciously i paid them what must have been more than their weekly wage as they were astonished that i gave them some money, and i sold the poor old Torana to the Torana wreckers at Milton.
I had no idea what to get next, till a mate of mine and old time PF member (Kalium) told me to get a datto. I nearly laughed, who wants a bloody 120Y!? (all i new of Datsun's) and when i saw these cars i fell in love.
1 month later i brought back Moby (lovingly named as to the spoiler). It was at the time the fastest thing i had ever driven, and thanks to the old Cam, it pulled skids like nobodies business. Heres some pics of when i first picked it up.

As you can see the whole car was in a HUGE need for TLC. Note the front spoiler held on with shoelace! So a polish and a detail later it looked like this. Note the lack of shoelace!

So at this point i was living with 4 other people, and between us we owned 6 Z's in total (this pic only shows 3 =/). Grass will never grow on that front lawn again...neighbors will always scowl at a Z.

So im living with people who know thier Zeds, and they decide that im not spending enough money on it. I had to get an auto meter tacho too, because a stock tacho cant read from a MSD. So basically i had no idea when to shift, which meant i was loosing to slower cars. The torque was getting annoying as what was meant to be a little slide around a corner quickly put me in a 360 degree spin much to everyones laughter. So i need to sort it out and after a race with a Turbo E30 that led to...some speeds...i also needed a new front spoiler (old one couldn't hack the down force).
So i bought...
* A new lumpy Cam
* MSA front spoiler
* Ram Tubes for the Weber's
* A further Cut a Polish (getting better at it!)
* Removed the front over-riders
* Clear front indicators
And now it looked like this

The first test drive i couldn't believe the difference in Revs, it just kept pulling...until it stopped, stalled and wouldn't start again. A quick inspection revealed that Card 2 had sucked the filter right out of the cage. With a little finesse we were able to blow out the remaining filter, at which time it became apparent that i needed ram tubes.
That night we took it to the gold coast. I resisted every urge to race everything that pulled up next to me, until we pulled up at a set of lights behind an STI. My mate went on one side of him, so i thought i might go the other. Engines started reving, i now know that my mate did this to get me and the WRX to race, he had no intention of racing. So the WRX and i take off, and its wheel spin through 1st and 2nd for me, it all happened so fast but heres what i remember.
I started to catch the WRX in 2nd, got beside it and shifted into 3rd and BANG car gets slower...gears wont shift...WTF. I knew what had happened, i just didn't want to admit it.
Blown Clutch.
Once that was sorted i was a lot more careful when driving it, as i didn't want that kind of inconvenience ever again (Plus changing a clutch without a hoist was not my idea of spending a weekend.)
But it was back, and it was running great =)

And then life threw me a curve ball, and i went to Canada to meet a girl which ended up with me staying for 18 months. When i got back (if anyone remember this story) my "mate" had been driving it around and giving out my name when he was pulled over. So it wasn't registered when i got back. The whale tail had also been taken off (not at my request). So very angry and dispointedly, i set about making it road legal again. Basically just re-doing all the seals, gaskets, new tyres and a new N42 Head later, it was ready to go. But i was def up with the back of the car, it was hideous without the spoiler and with crappy paint over the back. Also did a small bit of visual touch up, this involved a lot of small things most wouldn't notice, among those the removal the rear over riders.

So i had it repainted and the rest is history as they say, its sitting in my garage getting ready for a new owner. It will be a sad day.
