left feild idea for Unders: turbo 1200cc Datsun 1200/120Y.
stock engine size is 1171cc *1.7=1990. Using the 2% capacity tolerance on class limits you can take them out to 1200cc and remain U2L. Could be done well under 800kg and potentially make as much power as the Overs turbos as they all run the same size restrictor. should be able to rev to about 9000rpm through the restrictor. the OHV design is the part that makes it a gamble...
thats a nice engine pic there charge of the 20v and it even has a set of my throttles on it as well
We have a WA local planning a VW Golf with 1100cc engine and Turbo, No idea what they will be like?
My pick would be the Sprinter, and if they drop LM minimum weights you could run a Sprinter with a Yager 3SG, without the fear of the weight penalty.
Engine package is good for at least 200 rwhp..... and you can get the weight of the car down to around the 900kg mark.
If a certain NSW IPRA sprinter came up for sale, I would be very keen to purchase it.

Sprinters are EM anyways.
Rust is lighter than carbon fibre.
sure?
i thought they were after 1986.

1983 were the earliest Sprinters I think.
They are EM.
Yager dont like 3S engines,he uses 2.0L 20Valve age engines.
Need to be same number of cylinders and configuration.

Mitsi Mirage with Mivec 4g92/93s are popular in IP in WA.
Hondas are by far the fastest U2L Cars over here tho.
Always thought a s13, stripped out, would be decent with a worked, NA Sr20.
This is going off results ive seen for a few cars like this round Australia. Im actually supprised I havnt seen many more of these builds.
Theres only one I know of in NA form.
SR20 is a bit of a Dog so in NA form they are well down on things like Hondas.
CA18s stroked make more power as they have a much better head.
Mirage's are popular since you can buy ex mirage cup cars with a lot of the hard work already done I expect.
Sprinter with beams 3sge
or an n14 with sr20ve. Can speak from experience that power is pretty easy to get out of them. only issue will be with weight, mine in almost full trim (no spare, no air con) was just over 1100kg.
Older datto would be even better.
n12 with sr20ve?
'75 international acco fire truck!!
'70 VG sedan - current project, now 13's for $1300 project
'70 dodge yoot, current project - mothballed long term
'73 KE25 corolla - race car
'74 KE25 corolla - back on the road!
'89 BNR32 skyline - mothballed..
If you change head or block on late model you need to run the class minimum weight. I imagine a full on sr20 will be more or less on par with a full on ve.
Mad Cunt
No NA SR20 has done well in Australia yet. Fastest NA ever to race at Wanneroo had 190rwhp.Charlie Dymas 510 it cost a bomb to get there and he knows what he is doing. B Hondas have gone near mid 200s.
Heard today that the Datto 510 in Biante Touring Car Masters is now running an SR20 (I beleive it had an old L20 in it before). Wil be interesting to see how it develops (was dead last this weekend).
I was told the Mivec head off the Mirage Cup cars will bolt straight onto the 4G93 NA engine block.... would be an interesting combo if it does bolt straight on.

suspension also needs to be considered when choosing the car, hondas do well cause of the powahs but also cause of the double wishbone suspension on all four corners. Most of the other choices are strut fronts and solid beam rear end. IPRA keep all of the standard suspension arms except you can add panhard rods and mounting points are able to be moved around.
