looks like they are C4 calipers then. thanks guys.

i'm still doing the wiring. haven't had much free time last fortnight so not progressing as well as i'd hoped. i've attached a pic of a circuit that will keep my dash LEDs bright at day and dimmer at night. also, the other attached pic shows the back of the dash panel with the wiring for the 4 LEDs, 4 on/off switches and a 2 speed fan switch.

You're doing a really tidy job with this dude.

    Well done.

I'm taking notes on the way you're wiring it up. =)

i pulled apart two vs commodore looms and split them up into their component wires. got enough 0.3, 0.5, 0.85, 1.25, 2, 3 and 5mm2 wire of different colours to get me through this wiring job.

having said that i also went to an electrical wholesaler and got a great deal on a shitload of elec supplies including cabling.

i was pretty disappointed with the lack of plug options at your typical elec wholesaler and next wiring job i do i might look at a more exotic solution like deutsch connectors.

Where did you get that insulated connector from, the bit the power cable bolts too? Looks neat.

i got mine from a random battery shop whilst shopping for something else. i had planned to get them with the rest of my elec supplies at the auto electrical wholesaler linked above (any decent one should have them in stock).

i noticed bellanco has them in their catalogue so you could ring them up and find their closest distributor.

well good news is i'm half way through the wiring... bad news is i'm only half way through the fucking wiring!

the pic below is of the fuse box area. it is only about 1/6th complete. all wiring to all other areas of the car is getting close to complete except for the instrument cluster, which i've only just started.

    Thanks mate

Yeah, the reality of the build is that at the moment it is a stock vs commodore ute with a bolt on turbo kit and a rearrangement/minimisation of the electrics.

It still has stock taxi-spec engine (w/ 1.9:1 rockers), stock clutch, stock gearbox, stock diff (w/ 3.45:1 diff gears) as well as stock taxi-spec braking and suspension (w/ lowered springs)......

The rewire is going to make the electrics very easy to work on and the aftermarket ecu (vipec v88) is going to make things easy to monitor and control. So in that respect the car is very race car like; it just dosen't have impressive levels of acceleration, braking and handling. I want to spend some time on the track first before i go crazy with these other areas...

Hell I might not even like the track, I got second last at the last go kart fun day I was at and I'm pretty sure the only guy I beat was technically retarded.

All good though, modifying cars is a fucken awesome hobby. [/CSH]

ok home stretch now with the wiring.

    - front body loom - done
    - rear body loom - done
    - engine loom - done
    - cabin body loom - done (see pic)
    - relay/fuse panel - 1/2 done

a couple more days work left in it

interestingly there was just over 20 different ground wires that had to be grounded as part of just the cabin body loom. that's a lot more than i anticipated for a 'stripped out' harness. i gradually collected them all into a 5mm^2 cable (as per the front and rear body looms) to be terminated at the ground collector stud.

good power rx7, mine made 280rwkw on 15psi with wolf v500, 60lb injectors, GT35r with 0.86 rear. totally stock ecotec. I'm trying to convince Chris to go e85, should push over 400rwhp.

sounds like a similar setup and great power. big intercooler and 3" exhaust? collector or log manifolds?

i only recently bought and installed a new v6 radiator. are they a little undersized for the application?

thanks to damo (commotion) for doing some fuel rail welding for me today. i originally welded some -6 fittings onto my fuel rails but did not grind enough off the front of the rails so the new hose and fittings fouled with the thermostat housing. so i cut the fittings off, shortened the rails and got damo to weld them back on cause he needs the practice lol

the rails are now a parallel setup with the regulator at the front of the engine for ease of maintenance. have to purchase a few more fittings during the week to finish them off.

this one had log manifolds, it was a pro flow kit..

it had a stock V6 rad and was getting hot. put a v8 rad and another fan and it is mint now..

i didnt want to push any more into it until he got the temps sorted, might wind a little more into it

How's the power delivery in them log style manifolds? With the 0.86 rear and wolf my turbo was surging bad when it came on boost. Didn't notice till I plumbed the gate back in. I got collector based manifolds on mine with 40nb cross over. On my next project i am gonna go log style low mount twin turbo on ls1 for stealth.

    yeah, sure is.

i won't get any time to work on the thing till fri night so if i spend fri night and sat morning on it i should be able to start the car sat afternoon. that's assuming i haven't made any big mistakes with the wiring.

I'm not sure if anyone's mentioned it but the supercharged bottom ends are heaps good bro.
I touched my brother's wang and all I got was this lousy signature. If only I had a POWERCHIP to flick instead.

    hahaha, too true.

give me a year or two and there will be a VQsomething or an LSsomething under the bonnet i reckon

i put the interior back in tonight for the first time since completing the wiring. it seems like i've spent forever in the cabin doing shit but it is the case of do it once do it right. it is funny hearing normal people's response to the finished interior like 'where has it gone' and 'why would you do that', they'll never understand the ways of the shitbox racer.

looks like i'll have to sit in the driver's seat and pretend to drive the thing like i've been doing the last 5 weeks. getting pretty good at dosing noises now. also, i doubt the ecotec will have 2000hp and break traction in 5th like i pretend.
