It's good to know it can hook up that well, it's bad to see the results of it hooking up that well....

Looks like you might need to box up the lower control arms too, just for an added bit of strength.

I will box them but they bent where you cannot box them so i will weld some compensating plates along the sides of them

I remember doing that sort of damage to 2 10 Bolt Sals I had in my old VK before i bit the bullet and went for the 9".

Well the Moser 3.250" Larger Bearing Aluminium Case is here, one of the stronger thru bolt setups and being large bearing i can upgrade to 35 or even 40 spline if need be. I have a Romac Large Bearing 31 Spline spool coming this week. Just ordered a forged aluminium pinion support, bearings, 1350 Chrome Moly Yoke, 3.25 Motive Gears, ARP Bolts etc. So just waiting on the housing now.

Housing is all done and in the car, we have welded in the mount for the anti roll bar, i have welded in the drain plug, just have to weld in the filler and touch up the paint. The Anti Roll bar mounts are welded to the rails, i have the roll bar bolted in. Will pick up the linkages from the machine shop tomorrow so i can hook it all up and set the roll bar arm positions.

After some issues with the Romac 31 Spline Spool, it was a large bearing spool to suit the 3.250 case, no one else makes a 31 spline large bearing spool, i went to fit the ring gear and found the spigot on the spool to be 3 thou undersize and the crown wheel to be loose, so i took it back to UPC/Romac, the blamed it on the weather it was machined in. So i purchased a Strange Spool locally and brought some Currie Diff bearing cup to suit a 3.062 Cone in a 3.250 Case.

I have no finished assembling the pinion assembly and now just have to for the crown wheel on and set the backlash and wear pattens. Throw it in the car and it is done.

The tailshaft needs no mods, just have to remove the rear flange off it and slide the shaft along the centre spline (2 piece shaft) 30mm to it mates up with the diff yoke. I will still have more than the full spline engaged in the centre splif yoke. So hopefully this weekend it will be ready to go again.

I plan on slipping it on the dyno to try and find some more power to make up for the new diff.

You should see the romac UPC floaters they made for the race car that I had to pay a guy $1200 to remake cause he for so reason couldn't machine a 40 spline drive plate to save his ass...
    im a cunt

"The spool was made in the summer, it would have measured fine then" That what i was told, i nearly fell over laughing, it was about 20c on the day i took it back, he said he would heat it to summer temps and measure it for me, so he wacked it in the parts washer, took it out, you could not hold it with bare hands it was that hot, prob 70-80 Degrees, measure it up and it was just on size. I was then told 'the ring gear wont get as hot and expand as much so as the spool heats up it will tighten up".

They measured up another and i was worse, then they grabbed a 35 spline one that was supposedly made at the same time, it measured up fine, he was then lost for words.
So i had them refund my money and took it elsewhere. The will never see my cash again.

Got the VK already to race this Friday night and Saturday. Went out to the shed this arvo to see what boost it makes on just the wastgate spring and test a couple of boost settings on the transbrake.

Got up on boost the first pull on the brake and was at about 4000rpm and 50kpa of boost, then it sounded like a car that changed gear, dropped 2000rpm in less than 1sec but held boost etc. Tried again same thing but was a bit lazy coming up on boost, same thing dropped 2000rpm. Tried a third time and would not get up past 2000rpm or make boost, could hear turbo spooling a bit, but only just cracked BOV on the close of the throttle.

Loaded in the last tune i raced with, same issue, 100% Throttle would not go past 2000rpm on the transbrake, tried once more same thing.

Pulled turbo off, all fine, checked for rag in cooler (turbo is the only engine thing that has been touched since i last raced, i had it off for a look and thats it), all good, no holes in silicone hose etc, fuel pressure etc etc all looks good.

Sounds like the converter has got tighter, really tight all of a sudden.... What else could be wrong ?

Found the problem. The outer race of the sprag in the converter has cracked which then in turn cracked the stator. New sprag and stator going in today at TCE and should be right to go back in.

Looks like the sprag cracked when the thing spat the diff gears last rime it was out.

Glad you found the problem now and not out at Calder on the weekend!

I look forward to seeing it in action again on Saturday.

    Cheers,

    Scotty.

Went 9.2 at 147mph with a softish launch. Did a pb 60ft time on another pass but got loose at 1/2 track. Was prob a 9.1 if it stayed straight.
