This is my best lap from last weekend at phillip island. I think it would have been close to a 1:54 if i didnt miss the gearchange at the end. Was not concentrating because some stupid cold, as well as everyone at home. So very little sleep for a few days before i hit the island.
I started feeling better later in the day, but the rain and hail didnt help lap times improve.

I just did a walk around video of the fastback after applying the 2nd coat of topcoat. Tonight i can sand it and see how it is looking. Would be good to get the hifill/primer on soon.

Gay question, but are you planning on making a cut in the "fast back" roof to allow the boot to open?

I imagine you could make a fair bit of money out of these, from the limited side view it looks pretty nice.

The bottom edge of the back window is the shutline for the boot. Just have to continue it around once i am happy with the shape.
Last night i finished getting rid of all the hi and lo spots, then i drew lines all over the back section like a graph paper. Took lots of measurements, and found the left side was slightly down around the rear corner. So i have troweled an 3mm of plaster all over the left side and will have to start reshaping it again. Bow i have an accurate finish line on the boot. Should have done that to start with. Even cut out a template that can be transfered from side to side to make sure they are the same. May as well get it right.

    Looks good!

RX7 style lumps in the roof would have helped as you're definitely not vertically challenged!

Why lift the roof, when you can lower the seat.

And they didn't get a pic of the real fastback, just the rendering. I have been working every night till 10:30 - 11:00 on the fastback. It is amazing how much work there is in such a small piece. I have set the rebate for the back window now, sanded the whole thing with 40 grit and filled and small spots left behind. It is within 0.5mm now. So will sand that today, and get some primer on it. By the weekend it should be ready for top coat paint. But i have to go to some fancy lunch sat at the races, then stay in the city. So should get back onto it by sunday arvo.

This is the hifill and guide coat.

And sanded with some new fill over any deep scratches or holes.

Primer is on, and i am hoping to finish wet sanding it tonight and get a coat of colour on it. It's pretty awesome getting the car on speedhunters, will have to get it finished now.

Looking great, can't wait to see it hit the track. I feel so slack when I see how much you have progressed with this.
You going to Broadford next week?

Well if you work to midnight, you get a bit done...

There are times when it is handy to not be the size of grant denyer. In this case, i had to lift the complete mould, with the buck stuck inside it off the car, and flip it onto the table by myself. Very large piece for one person.....

This is not the mould that will be used for making the fastbacks, so i didnt worry about finishing it perfectly. The plaster was a drama to get out as you can see in this pic. Few more minutes, and it will be readty to prep, and wax. Ready for a one piece fastback to be made.

I have pulled a fastback out of the mould. But it alligatored due to the gelcoat not being dry enough. I thought it might happen. But when you are in a rush and live in cold melbourne... I might use it anyway to get an idea on mounting points and framework.
    Painted some "cars" lightyear tyres.

This is the video brendan edited for me from the 6 hour at phillip island a couple of weeks ago. There is a turn one off when i was trying to squeeze thru the inside of an mg, and lots of passing as well as some idea on how slippery it was on the tyres i was using when it rained.

I know I am going to cop a massive serve for it, but I reckon those tyres look sweet. Should paint the taller sidewalls on my new 15's the same way (just for the haters :P)

I have a stencil that I stick onto the tyre and just apply some paint with a sponge. It is very quick to do. So from now on all my tyres will have lightyear written on them. It is good for a laugh...

I did borrow a pair once at winton, and it was better. Just been a tight ass and not spent the money on them yet.

And i did some wool tuft testing on the rear spoiler and the bonnet vents. The spoiler is working as you would expect. And the vents are working well, except the last little vent holes. The air seems very nuetral there. If you look at the first pic from sandown you can see the wool on the back of the car.

Ready for the last round of the vic s.s on saturday. I made a triple element wing to play with while i am there.

This is a video from the aroca day at sandown. I dropped 0.4 seconds by throwing the carbon fibre roof on and the vented bonnet. As i am not allowed to run them in my class, but threw them on for the last session to get a comparison.

That frame on the video is going down the hill on the back straight - incase you couldn't guess... It gets very close to the wall on turn 4. But it does on every lap, just the way that track is.
