    Daihatsu Charade

USE: Circuit racing, hill climbs, super sprints and just fart arse around.

    The car......

    The engine....

Um.... Honda B18c7 sleeved by Kim Baker-The Bakers with Darton MID sleeves. 81.5mm bore.
    Wiesco 9.8:1 forged pistons.
    Manley Turbo Tough Rods.
    ERL 5 point main girdle.
ARP head and main stud kits.
    ATI Race Series front balancer/pulley.
Serc Modified(by Roadrunner fabrications) 25 row engine oil cooler with oil thermostate.

    The head....

Um.... Honda b16 head, cnc'd chambers, ports cleaned up, type r cams, Supertech stainless oversized valves.
Deleted distributor and custom machined rear cam cap to accept MoTeC gt-101 cam position sensor. Intake cam modified with ref tooth for cam position.
Modified cam cover to accept MoTeC Mercury outboard cdi coils in cop format.
    Aem cam adjustable cam gears.

    The induction set up.

304 sch 10 ramhorn manifold with a Tial 60mm waste gate on a 7 psi spring. Garrett 3067 turbo with Tial stainless v-band rear housing in .63.
2-2.5 inch intake pipe from turbo to intercooler(which is a back door design as I hate long pluming).
2.5 inch pipe to standard 65mm Honda throttle body which is bolted to a Edelbrock Performer X intake manifold.
All intake clamps are Adel Wiggins couplings(just had to have them).
Engine breather set up is a large can with three -12 breathers(two off the can cover and one from the rear on the block). There is a fourth -12 whick is a return(drain) to the engine.

    The engine control....
MoTeC M800 ecu with advanced functions, logging, lamda.
MoTeC 4ch cdi with Mercury outboard cdi coils mounted cop.
    MoTeC Backlit ADL dash/logger.
    Custom complete Millspec wiring harness.

    Transmission.....

    MFactory straight cut synchro gearset.
    MFactory plate type LSD.
    Syncro-Tech Carbon lined synchros 3rd, 4th, 5th gear standard brass 1st, 2nd.
Honda LS B18 4.26:1 final drive.
Resplined front hub flanges to accept large Toyota outer c.v's.
Bosnjack custom billet drive shafts with single out circlips to reduce stress raiser points.
Custom Road Runner Fabrications gear shifter box with shift rod passing in cabin.

    Brakes and supension....

Drummond Motorsport(DMS) 50mm giant coil overs. 320lb front/290lb rear spings.
Hi-Spec front four piston calipers on Alcon 295mm vaned racing rotor and alloy hat.
Rear is Diahatsu ahem Applause disc conversion.lol.
Brake actuation is via a Tilton floor mount pedal assembly.
Steering column was lengthened four inches due to the pedal assembly as was the seating position.

    The cooling system....

Boot mounted radiator(fabbed by Road Runner Fabrications).
Davies Craig electric water pump Fitted to radiator. Plumbing runs through part cabin and exits at the start of the tunnel. From there it travels to the firewall and engine.
Exit path for the air is via the duct that I am working on. Pics of the part make below.
The entry will be from the two quarter windows. The car will have a firewall from the main hoop of the roll cage rearwards. This is necessary for the car to be log booked(from my understanding which is very little lol).
Radiator also runs two Spal 16inch thermo fans rated at some 2700cfm of airflow each.

It was a tight fit. Very tight hence the solid steel mounts. Here you can see the top view of the engine timing cover to the rail, the front crank pulley to the rail and the alternator to the rail. BEEEZ DICK.

That is about it....nah not really there is plenty more but can't be fucked right now!

Nah bro clean snapped the bottom of my arm at threadbo doing down hill a few months back. My fingertips were pointing my face.

Had plates put in and they also had to dothe carpal tunnel job a week later as there was too nerve swelling causing pain and numbness in my hand.

Surgens said I did a wonderfull job on it.

Awesome work - the car, not the arm.

How much power does the engine make?

That is absolutely fuckin ridiculous. In an awesome way.

How are you planning to put 300+kw down through two front wheels in a car that will weigh 750kg though?

You know how traction control works yeah?

Just cause the car may make 450-500hp does not mean that 1st, 2nd or even 3rd will see that much.

Realistically though I can't see t hecar needing more than 350-400 on the circuit. That would be with wide tires.

    Many awesomes

I used to dream of putting my radiator in the boot, was talked out of it as apparently Id never comply with any realistic race class. Do you compete in a specific class or just to beat your own PBs at random track days?

I just want to do it for fun. Had been to a few open days and would like to do some super sprints or hill climbs.

Needs a firewall made at the roll cage main hoop. That is already in the process of being done, well the design and material choice is done.
