Im actually going down tomorrow to clean the engine up. It's on an engine stand full of dirt from the prang. Ill try to remember to take a piccy for you with the sump and pump sitting on the engine.

RPM = 7000. I actually ran the engine before this one upto 7500, but believe me these things cop an absolute hiding and torque is dropping anyway. Better to be a bit conservative and we are chasing torque not outright hp.

moving on from the titanium thread:

choppo, have you thought about lexan windows? (cant remember the deal with late model cars and plastic bits)
what about a fibreglass rear boot or something?

or some of that carbon fibre wrap stuff so it makes it look like its lighter..?

I wish - no composite panels and all factory glass needs to be retained AND in working condition i.e. can't dump the winding mechanisms either.

There are many a USA ones, but try fitting them into a Crommidore without extreme modification (which i cant do). Even worse, pay though the arse for the Harrop (many cheaper ones from USA) and it needs a shit load of work to make it fit/work

Cheers mate! Its a new Alloy one direct from Hollinger. You can't see it in the pics, but it has a big 'flat' bit missing off the bottom of it. Not sure what that is all about, but i will have to make up a plate to cover it up or the clutch etc will be hanging in the wind.

Check out the difference in size and weight between previous clutch/flywheel and the new gear - huge!

See this ^. I mentioned before my bang for buck theory which Al/Ti nuts and bolts don't fit within.

Then put it into context, im adding weight with a camera system, data system etc etc. Hell i even have a cool suit with 2kg of ice/water in it. I wont mention air jacks, multiple coolers, dry sump + accessories....

"you take-eth, you give-eth" is the balance of weight reduction in the car vs. reliability, safety and comfort.

It will never be the lightest. I'd put a minimum cage in it if i wanted to achieve that goal.

What are you planning with the rear end? Spool or LSD?

Can't see if you extended the cage through to the front strut towers. Is that the plan?

There are a couple of ipra monaro's here in wa - nice pieces of kit.

Chatted to hislops mechanic at the nationals he mentioned that the car had "800" or so!! Not sure what to think of that though. Any more pics of the cage?

Those Hans are gold. I remember my reluctance to use mine even though i had bought it. Once used a few times you don't notice it at all and im a walking testimonial to their effectiveness. Still have neck niggles, but better than my whole head being ripped off and landing down near the T2 flaggies at EC.

Same same with cages. Ive had the argument with guys before - BE SAFE (as possible).

KAZZ - expensive but good. Dropping up (or down if you like) to a 3.46 to take advantage of the new box.

So naive... my mate was friends with a guy who was a cousin of the FRP engine builder's uncle. He spent 25years with FPR and went into 'retirement'. He promised me 852hp this time!
