Good to see it finally finished! Does it have Formulae 1 style accommodation for an old interstater?

Cheers mate - did the silver underneath too. Will be nice to work on a clean car and oil leaks etc should be a piece of piss to find.
Bought a full car. Buying a shell without a donor car is a bad way of doing things IMO. You would spend your life on Ebay and going to wreckers looking for bits and pieces, let alone the accumulative cost of the bits and pieces would be a killer.

How much of the old car is going into this one?

Now i think of it, bugger all.

The suspension, rear cradle, K frame, gearbox, diff and engine will be new/different. Maybe the engine will be the same for the interim whilst doing some testing. Im making some trick front and rear bars for it. Even the timing/data collection and video gear is new.
So really only the dry sump set up, fuel system (although i will be modifying that too) and incidentals like seat, steering wheel, wheels will be the same.
The last car was so farked up, not much was usable when we came to stip it

Rather than be a smartarse this time, I'll just come right out and say: that's a very fucking interesting LS1 you posted on page 1.

Specs are probably Secret Squirrels (tm) but can you give an overview of what's done? Done much/anything to the oiling system?

    Sorry, been on hols

6ltr max on IPRA engines, but all the good shit inside. Cast iron LS2 block, ET heads, 8tb, diamond pistons, Calies crank... good for around 595 on 98 (certified engine dyno). Backed off to approx 550hp for racing though.

    Oiling >>>> see here >>> http://www.harrop.com.au/root_folder...49-00-kit.html

Only way to go with an LS.

BTW - those Harrop farkers take a bit of fitting! Ill try find some pics and post up

Which eligible vehicle is the cast iron LS2 out of?

Sorry, not very familiar with the holdens.

Won't be a problem until he starts winning races - then he'll get protested and kicked out...

I doubt Chop would be running a cast iron block somehow, he's not that stupid unless he's found a loophole somewhere...

I agree, I was asking only asking to satisfy my own curiosity. I wasn't aware of any aussie delivered cars that used the iron block except for the W427 but only 138 of those were built, making them ineligible for Improved Production.

(iii) The cylinder block must either be:
(iv) (a) derived from an eligible car as detailed in Regulation 1.1. OR
    (b) derived from the same family of engines as an eligible car using identical internal dimensions (with
differences only in transmission mounting pattern, minor external casting differences etc). ...

I would have thought the casting differences in an iron block compared to an alloy block would be more than minor.!?

Anyway, at the end of the day you seem to know what you're doing so good luck to you! The new car is looking like a nice bit of gear.

I've been following the class for a while but my work committments (hopefully that will change next year) have prevented me from participating, hence the interest in the rules.

Thanks - very interested to see how the dry sump fitted up.

What kind of RPM limit will you be hitting with that motor? Fucking nice specs - love the aero stuff too!
