wait for a week when the weather is shit and business is slow. Tinting is highly seasonal and you can get a better deal in winter (or a wet week).
The car yards are the bread and butter of the industry. Keep an eye on car sales figures and you will know if its a slow month or not. Or you can always just ask if things are slow up front and if they say "yeah" then you know to drive a deal hard.
I have been out of it for 10 years now. Back then - Retail price used to be approx $350 for a sedan and we were charging the yards about $180 for that same film. This should give you an idea as to the margins they work on.
Oh and try to get a quality film made by 3M and avoid the other junk.

Thanks aaron , its booked in tommorrow and ive known of the guy for ages so should be no prob . He mentioned the FG has the ariel in the rear window so he doesnt use a metallic based tint .
I had my VE done ( from the dealer i got it from ) and back window turned to shit in under two years , rang them up under lifetime warrenty and they said no prob bring it in , tint is for free but i pay removal !! .
