i was going to say exactly along the lines of JaytheFordman

the Capri started off from ''humble'' beginnings from an 11.5-sec daily 302W to a 10.5 302W to what it is today. it had done over 1500 passes with the 302W combo's i think he got a little bored and decided for something a little more fun. one day u might get bored and throw some hairdryers on yours. with a build 100hp or 5000hp we are all after the same thing in the end, to enjoy the car.

Neal used a 1-piece had to take the bellhousing off. pump stuck out about 2mm. prior to this new case we used the 6-cyl case.

Day 2 of the Supernats was cancelled because of the rain. did plenty of cruising with the Capri yesterday. it was on a very safe 21psi tune for the weekend. still she would be producing close to 750rwhp & 800ft-lbs of torque. driving with the normal street tyres (295mm Toyo Proxes) it still blazed them soon as the boost come on new pair of tyres ordered, pod filters (crumpled like crazy) and new brake discs some skids the rpm was over 8000 so we know the tyres were moving. shame it was cancelled today would have alot more funs.

had to add a couple more vids, i think u guys will enjoy. first up is a mate Wayne in TEA55A its a TC Cortina with a 347ci Windsor, has run 10.9@123 its a fantastic little street car. the other vid is Mick and me in the SLUG FJ20 turbo Datto ute (Powercruise Sydney attendee's will know it) following TEA55A. both guys got a warning for going a little too crazy this was the very first cruise session of Supernats, had today not been cancelled the last cruise session would have been very interesting

yeah, ur the one Joe wanted to race. ur Capri went good, one of the first things Joe said when he came back was that other Capri went great. we all thought u would have been a contender to take out the Off street Racing.

thanks mate, ummm no build thread it was done so long ago, almost before the interweb was invented it was done 7 or so years ago.

it uses a 2JZ-GE head and block, NA head not turbo he built the engine himself
    KE70 wagon, 3/4 chassis
heads ported by Jake @ Bain Racing, just a mildish port flows 312cfm
    HKS 272 Cams
    Borg Warner 80mm turbo
    Argo Rods
    Arias Pistons 8.5:1
my brother made the intake manifold and exhaust manifold, fitted engine etc
    Northmead Auto built Powerglide
TCE Converter 5500rpm stall (changing to Neal Chance soon as this one is hard to get up on even with NOS and needs more stall)
    3 x Bosch 044 pumps
    6 x Bosch 1600cc white top injectors
70-shot NOS just to get it up on the converter
EMS 8860 ECU tuned by Vince Rigoli
M&W CDI with M&W dual Coils
makes 900rwhp@36psi on United pump E85 18 degrees timing, needs a bigger turbo or wastegate springs, can't make anymore power
weighs around 2660lbs, has run a best of 8.0@174 he doesn't rev it hard just to 7500rpm might be why the engine has lasted all this time. if u need to know anything else feel free to ask

after struggling with popping issues on higher boost, we went out tonight with a set of mix 'n match Bosch leads we bought at SuperCheap Auto for less than $50. considering the other sets that were promised will be fine and cost over $200 a set we didn't expect much. we also decided to ditch the Race E85, for good old $1.20 a litre pump E85 from the bowser at United Petroleum in Rozelle. after getting some disppointing numbers back on the dyno as we had to take a few degrees of timing out etc because the fuel was not up to par with the Race E85.

numbers aside tonight was mainly about getting out there and just making sure the car didn't pop. 1st pass, 10.0@159mph, cold track and the car just spun the tyres, but, main thing was not a single pop. we were all ecstatic, even moreso when we seen the mph as we were not expecting that on a clean pass let alone a pass like that. running the street plugs and full exhaust (2 cats), Joe kept asking if we should take the pipes off and give it a go, considering i was feeling lazy so i said no at the end of the night the car also ran a 8.54, 8.45 and 8.42@163.99mph, that was only 2.5mph less than the best it's ever went with the good race fuel and it's also the best time it has ever run with the pipes on, looking at the 60's they were about half a tenth slower than what we usually run with the pipes on. it was consistent and the main thing there was no popping. it would have been very interesting had we taken the pipes off and 60'd like usual.

    runs from tonight (Friday)

$200 custom leads vs $40 SCA leads

who would have thought a $40 set of leads would have done the trick

Funny sometimes when you think 'fuck it, this will do…' and it turns out good. Sometimes they're the best moments, like chucking a shitter engine in something to get it running, only to find you can thrash the cunt out of it and it lasts forever lol

first of all it was Magnecor but they were only the 8mm blue, had them on for a year, they were fine to 28psi soon as we put them up to 30psi started popping. running the cdi and street driving we thought they were fucked. then went to 11mm Eagle's we told them it was for EFI, CDI, non-resistor plugs, needs to be high resistance to interference etc etc. they said yeah will be fine. Vince decided to check both sets and was fuck all ohms resistance, 4 ohms. Vince's 8.5mm Magnecor's had 3000ohms. i had the good Magnecor racing wire but didn't have time to get them made. Vince said just shoot down to SuperCheap and get a set, the rest is history

when it's a small niggling problem that's the killer. won't be taking no cunts word for anything now. will be testing everything and making sure all is good before doing anything again. we don't get enough testing opportunities here in Sydney (well we do now) and no $'s to throw around willy nilly.

bought a new race ethanol thursday night, hopefully it will produce more hp and tq than the United E85, you'd think it would. only have 11-12psi wastegate springs, the e-boost2 is already at 95% (30psi). so should have a couple psi left. we are set on running a 7 with this engine before building a tuff/tuffer 1UZ

your drum e85 will not make any more power... united is always min 85% sometimes even 90%...

i just put 20psi turbo smart springs in my car and it still only goes to 14psi.. i think there ratings are fucked up, tial springs always go to the rated pressures..

if your at 95 on the the eboost you wont get any more boost, the soloniods stop plusing at around 87% so once your at 90 you wont get any more boost..

yeah, the United stuff we got was just under 90% when we tested it. will see what happens, we hope with this stuff can put a bit more timing in etc. when we used the race E85 it was showing 900rwhp@30psi on United it was only coming up as 770rwhp@30psi. but, when u compare figures and weights etc the power showing at the track (where it all counts the most) is very similar with the United as the drum stuff. at 3120lbs on Friday night, it's showing close to 1100hp@fly the 8.20@166.5 pass was showing around 1130hp@3040lbs

same as the springs we got 17psi but they are only showing 11psi or so. the Turbonetics springs were pretty good also, 10psi, came up around 9psi.

our e-boost2 was still picking up over 87%, we turned the boost down at the Track Championships last week from 95% to 90% then to 85%, when i was checking the logs, boost was dropping 8-10kpa each 5%. even when tuning, Vince was only going up in 5 point increments boost was still going up close to 2 psi each time up to 95%. we may have got lucky with the solenoids or the eboost2 is reading % wrong. it actually shows 1.1psi of boost soon as u turn it on so it wouldn't surprise me

hahaha yep turbosmart quality... you can reset the map sensor, there is instructions on there web site but as they are NOT a closed loop controller the only thing it will effect is the gate pressure setting..

will prefer to just stick to minusing 1.1 off the displayed boost, knowing our luck will fuck the whole thing

my turbo smart 60mm gates on my car have 14+7psi springs and it gets 14psi with no boost on top.. i was hoping thay would hold 20psi at least...

the tial 60mm on steves old mazda with a 14psi spring it would go up to 54psi boost if we wanted it to..
