    Melbourne: mandrel bends/general steel

Dandenong Steel, on the enzed side of princes hwy dandenong, basically opposite the sth gippsland hwy entry.

Apart from the heckling about whooosh the guy there is good on price, and easy to deal with.

He also supplies most of the local exhaust joints.

Do they have much stainless there? After maybe 6m of 3" SS 304 and some bends.

I used to go to a place called 'skinner bending' just off charles street in coburg. They let me grab a number of 2-3inch mandrel bend 'oopsies' for a few bucks in the foreman's pocket that were fine for my purpose but maybe a small imperfection here or there and no good for their customers etc. Then everyone started going there and it got harder to get away with. I haven't been in a while, it might be a goer again?

Have Dealt with Dandy steel before, cut me out a custom brace of 10mm steel plate for the rear k-frame for $20. Seem pretty good.

Any updates on this? Need some 2.5" tube and probably a single 180deg bend for the new exhaust in the race car.

Preferably somewhere northish, saves me having to wait for weeks between supplies.

phone /email order it's at your door the next day.

i use these http://www.geordi.com.au/Products19d.htm rather then flanges makes life easy just make sure you lock wire the wingnut.

    other option is:

    http://www.yellowpages.com.au/vic/th...6-listing.html

but cunts never have much stock of bends and prices are what they feel like on the day :/

Hm, interesting, didnt realise they would do shipping.

As for flange vs ferrule, after having a v-band fail at Nationals and having to weld the exhaust together ill stick with flanges.

I buy 90% of my stainless from Tubesales in Tomo. They are awesome to deal with. Ask for Phil, he does the best prices.

Otherwise, try Austral Wright in Epping.

Vbands are typically shit sheet metal things a ferrule is much beefier, only time one has let me down is when i did not lock wire it correctly
