i may as well share my POWERCHIP experience. i bought one of their chips for $400 whilst at uni. i didn't know shit about cars at the time except i wanted to beat my friend's saab 9-3 with bolt ons. POWERCHIP promised me 10kW if i used their chip in conjunction with 98 RON fuel. when the POWERCHIP arrived i got the local dyno shop to do a back to back test of the factory 'chip' vs the POWERCHIP. the dyno operator even got me to drive for a weekend with the POWERCHIP installed so the ecu could reach a steady state. well, the back to back dyno measured a (no shit) 1kW increase in power along the power curve including peak power. i demanded a refund but POWERCHIP conveniently became very hard to communicate with.
later on that year i traded the $400 POWERCHIP to Macca (mature age student) for a handjob by his younger sister. she ended up blowing me and all of a sudden the extra kWs didn't matter any more. i quit my 'car phase', grew up and got on with life. i now have a healthy share portfolio and a stupid looking tie. i owe everything to POWERCHIP and if i had my time again i'd go POWERCHIP again...
