Way back when he just started powerchip (perhaps 1990) he lent me one to put in my MX5, as part of his marketing for the then new MX5 club. I had it in for a month, it made no difference on the track or on the road, so I told him. He wrote me a letter telling me that I would be sued if I told anyone what I thought. This was difficult because he already told everyone I was testing his awesome product, so they all asked me...(I was fastest by a mile around the track in my MX5 at club meets...so everyone wanted my secret, lol...how about 5 years of experience not 5 minutes)
I wrote back using what I learned doing business law at uni & said that as we did not have a commercial arrangement (he didnt pay me nor was it ever discussed) there was no contract between us and as such there was nothing he could do to stop me offering my opinion.
Later I heard him telling people in the club that I used his chip but didnt want anyone to know my secret...
In summary, he is not much of a bloke really. Also, you have as much to worry about as I did.
