    Cressida - 13s for $1300 project

I was planning on doing an ea-eb turbo manual falcon for this project but since i have a cressida lying around i thought i might see how far i can get with it for $1300

The car in question is the same one i bought about 2 years back. Its a silver mx83. Its a fairly tidy shell, has a few dents and faded passenger side front and rear guard tops. I bought the car with the engine half out due to BHG so i also have a few 7m bits and bobs, injectors, afm etc. Its been sitting in my back yard since the new business and extra kid knocked the wind out of me with it.

Although i paid more for it looking around at todays ebay / boostcruising price index i am thinking you could get something in a similar engineless state for about $400. The car is a grande so its extra heavy but has an LSD already. It also has an a340 in it and a tailshaft and a good stock radiator.

Engine:- I have 2 spare 2jzge engines, the first one cost me a carton of beer but has since had its crank shaft donated to the ke20, the second was part of a $500 deal i bought off a member containing a 1jzgte, a 2jz full gasket kit and acl race series bearings. I am of the opinion that the ge engine was a $100 component of this price based on previous ge engine purchases and its the engine i will use for this project. I am still yet to have a good look at the engine though.

Misc:- Since this used to be a project i had some parts collected already. Sump / flex plate and bellhousing was from JZK25 from memory think slipped him $100 back then. The car already has a 400x300 cooler in it but i dont think i can afford this within the budget so will take it out.

I also have an ebay t4 manifold for it that i paid $189 for and they are still available on ebay for that price today. The inlet manifold i built back when this car was a project at $0 cost to myself, i am however considering using a factory manifold and tb position if the intercooler is not within my budget.

Here is a picture of how it sat when the project ran aground, it now has no engine and the turbo on it in the picture is not within the budget so it goes.

    $1300-$789

$511 to put it together and make it run 13s hahahaha

    Plans :-

I want to try and get the 2jzge running using the 7mge distributor, injectors and afm, the afm is a restrictive POS but dont really have a choice. I plan to do the usual free tricks to the a340 to get it to shift quickly, should be ok for this project. Convertor will be stock. Hopefully i still have some stock exhaust manifolds for the ge as i plan to get it running and registed in an NA state.

If i can find a $100-$200 internally gated turbo this should leave me enough money to buy a cheap arse FPR, a 2nd hand fuel pump, some pressure switches etc. I want to make up or re-use some kind of a tank for an engine bay mounted methanol tank. I will use 2-3 2jzge injectors plumbed into the intake pipe to provide the additional fuel and cooling required.

This jaycar kit http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView...l&form=KEYWORD is cheap and combined with a few pressure switches should let me drive up to 3 injectors in stages.

Even though i own an exhaust shop i will use scrap material from the bin out the back just like anyone else can for the exhaust and inlet pipe work.

Probably should of started with a cheaper / lighter car but end result is car is out of my back yard and i gain another cheap thrasher with AC.

I bought one of these manifolds directly from ssautochrome for $83 USD delivered (around a year ago) - can provide receipt to legitimise the purchase price.

So if your happy with running with that kind price - Just found you another $100.

Slight hijack. Is the manifold any good and what are the approximate dimensions? Might be useful for a future incarnation on the free30

Had a quick look over the engine and all is well. Whilst looking over other bits and pieces i seem to have misplaced the 7m AFM, most probably threw it in disgust so will need to find one.

I have sourced a pair of gtr skyline turbos that a mate bought when i did that turbo mini, he got 2 for $200 and said i can have the pair for $150. Just need to work out if they will flow enough for what i need.

Thinking the higher 2jzge comp plus little turbos should get the 60's it will need to go 13s with < 110mph, boost will have to stay below 16psi anyway on the ghetto fueling setup i have planned

Atleast if i make up manifolding, dumps and shit then there is a heap of gtr bolt on shit i can go to later.

I have an aristo ecu / map sensor / ignitor / injectors i can use on this, wiring it into where the 7m ecu goes will be time consuming but may give the best result. I know i can trigger it using the na 2jzge cas / distributor, i can maybe weld the gte injector rail to the ge manifold runners and use the gte injectors. so the ecu will handle boost ok, question is can i run all the ignitor outputs to one coil and still use the distributor? individual coils might be to costly once i have worked out a price for the aristo ecu and shit.

There is going to be alot of hours in this haha.

with using all the ignition outputs together, could you just put a diode on each wire then join them all together at the coil ? ghetto stylez yo !

What problems do you forsee dale? i dont think coil charge time will be an issue at the rpm it will see, the coil really should not see any more activity than it normally would, it will still have an ign+ just the ground will come from a different ignitor output 6 times per 720 degrees of engine rotation. I cant even see rotor button phasing being an issue.

It will eat at me now until i can try it, unfortunately i have to get the supra engine rebuilt and back in the car before i can even make a start.

    Sweet project Scotty

Those manifolds work OK but I know Al has stopped using them due to slag inside blowing turbos. I have heard of a few other failures because of this. The one we fitted to a mates Aristo was die ground inside (and the flange plate too as it was out a bit) plus I dragged a tight bunch of rags through it on wire like 5 times in the hope of getting any shit out. He never had problems.

I recommend the twin entry style ebay mani as used on my R31. The reason is all the welds a viewable and grindable in that mani where the pictured single entry mani they are not. They cost the same at the time if you can still find one. You will prob be OK with the single just pay extra attention to trying to clean it out. Its just very difficult to do since you cant get to all the welds.

I paid a lot less than this eGay add. Think it was more like $250? But for this challenge the $88 one is obviously the go. Or do what Al done for the Fre30

Also see my post in GTs thread regarding the use of stock loose converters if you are not already in the know about this. You might have the shit already lying around.
