Power steer lines and fuel lines done, drivers engine mount done, throttle cable mount done, injector plugs and additional sensor wiring done. Fuel reg done. Turbo oil drain and turbo oil feed done.

Still metric shit load to go, got a few other cars consuming time this week but its progressing.

Finished modifying the ebay exhaust manifold, ran the wastegate forward and the vent exits down behind the alternator. Tomorrow i hope to get into the intercooler piping, not much room with all the ac stuff down one side of the rad and the abs down the other.

Also need an aristo water temp sensor and 02 sensor. For some reason i have also lost the stock cressida speed sensor so need one of them too.

Been thinking if i cant get around the 180 speed limiter i might half the number of trigger teeth the aristo speed sensor sees and making a manual gearbox controller out of a 6 or so relays.

Mounted the turbo, dump, gate up for good, made the intercooler pipes, passenger side from stainless off cuts and drivers from mild steel bends with cold gal sprayed inside to keep the rust at bay haha. Getting closer to starting on the wiring nightmare.

I've actually spent zero but it would be over $1300 as i didnt skimp on fuel and hydraulic lines.

Cressida ~$400 for a rolling shell, mine is a grande but could be done cheaper with a lower spec
    Ebay Mani $189
    Ebay Gate $99
China t04 bearing converted freebie (actual value ?? $200-$400?)
    NA 2jzGTE $150
    Intercooler $105
Supra fuel pump freebie (actual value $50-$100?)
Ebay 2nd hand reg, freebie (actual value $50)
Aristo ECU and various sensors, freebie (actual value $50-$150)
    Highflowed VN injectors 590cc $150
    Various Silicone $50
So the lowside figure is $1493

Exhaust and cooler piping i have a truck full of enough shit to do it for free, stainless, 3" mufflers etc, all going to the scrappies today. I own an exhaust shop though, so why wouldn't i put something decent on it

Whats the time penalty extending to say $2k

Who cares mate At the end of the day only you and ALLMTR will have a car worth keeping.

I see it as one of the more fun aspects of this challenge. Nothing really matters and therefore no-one should get sandyvag from what any of us do in the comp. Makes a nice change from CAMS/ANDRA.

It's good that you're being honest about it. If you spent $2K the time penalty would be 7-tenths, but if you run quicker than 12.3 you still win at the moment.

But if you spend $1500, it's only a 2-tenths penalty. The less you spend from this point on the better.

Yeah having a car worth keeping/daily driving for $1300 with potential to go fast is a real challenge. I, personally, don't have a problem listing freebies as free. Hell if we went retail or what things are going to cost some random, the 1jz supra, the turbo starlet and $100 registered falcon would all be out. . .

This whole quest has been about getting deals

Deals sure, but I think one of the core starting points of the challenge was assigning some sort of cost to garage stock or freebie parts.

I'm looking forward to seeing this finished whatever the cost. It should be insanely quick. From the SM story perspective I think it'll be good to see at least one car go over budget just purely for reader interest. "Car XYZ went $300 over budget and got penalised 3-tenths but it didn't matter because it ran 12.3 at 114mph." Makes for a good story.

I think this one should get some bonus time if it does it without using nitrous

Um, why? The quickest car so far is a turbo car, all the quickest cars in Australian Pro-Street seem to be turbo cars. Everyone seems to be under the impression nitrous is easy for some reason. Having played with supercharging, turbocharging and nitrous I can honest say that nitrous has been the biggest headfuck the both times I had a go.

Maybe we should penalise the turbo cars. joking

Thought Id get a few sandy vags with that comment

Where did anyone suggest turbos arent allowed? Last time I looked you dont have to refill a turbo with expensive gas before heading back to the track. A turbo is also legal on the street.

Everything thats ran a 13s pass has run nitrous so far. Nitrous is great but Im really looking forward to seeing this thing run, as its much more of a 'legal' street car, which was the whole idea in the first place

Oh well then, thats fucking sweet! I must have got the VNs mixed up, I still wanna see this one go though.

I wasnt having a go at the other cunts cars, I didnt expect WW3 to break out over that tiny comment. Jesus, even Chuck was originally saying the challenge would be better without nitrous. What I wrote was a direct response to people talking about penalties for breaking the budget because of some proper fuel lines/etc.

This car is still very much in the spirit of things IMO, thats all I meant. Grumpy cunts are just gonna have a swing no matter what.

would not stress about that. Seen plenty of na 2jz bottom ends make big power much more than you are aiming for and just get thrashed on pump fuel

We pulled the box this morning and made a funky hybrid cressida / supra auto using the front hub, planetary set, input shaft and front cover. Changed to a 2jz flex plate and used an aristo convertor. All good now drives forward and backwards. Think i have about a half day of little things to sort before skids.
