Bit thinner than stock but not as thin as what some of the US guys in cold climates have used.

Got a khana on the weekend so between now and then will see...
Do not buy Redline LW shockproof from Bursons or Redline Australia at app $160 per gallon.I got it from Extreme motorsport for less than $100 as they import it direct from the states.i had excellent results with RL in a baulky RX7 box

here is another place to buy it

Do not use the shockproof in the gearbox, it'll glaze the synchros.
    My car
    Corolla

Rorz: With their engines Harley have discovered the ultimate way to turn fuel into noise without any annoying bi-products like horsepower. Amazing really.
willsy01: i'd organise for my neighbour to look after the kids whilst I go play golf/work on the car/play with nunchuks in the backyard.

Tbh I had never even heard of turret oil until I stumbled across an mx-5 forum a few days ago... But no, the 86 doesn't have that setup

I have been told Redline stuff can be had from Amazon.com (US) for ridiculously cheap prices even after shipping.

I don't think anyone is using the Shockproof oils, just their standard stuff

Nafe is the same. And I drove it a fair bit over the last couple of days and his gearbox felt fine. And it has 12,000km on it.

I used to put the Redline Shockproof in my old Silvia's gearbox and it made it much better.

Mines at Melbourne docks but demo manual was smooth as was a mates gt manual I borrowed for a run up mountain hwy. Hopefully mine's the same.

Going back to S15 days in '01, I recall using redline mt90? which improved things. From my shitty memory, shock proof wasn't recommended.

Had the khana today and car was a champ, no gear issues at all, in fact I think it has improved a bit more now

From memory ran consistently in the top 5 of ~15 cars which included various turbo cars and a pair of v. quick Evos

For a BRZ which is completely stock save for the tyres that is pretty impressive IMHO!

86 got taken to another dealer to see their take on it, crunch seems like a common issue.

They reckon it will get better as the k's roll on (at 7600 now), im doubtful.

The box isn't wonderful, its notchy and thats just how it is, but it shouldn't be crunching.

It's definitely improved the shifts, though I suspect you could probably use any full synth 75w85 or 70w80 and get similar results

It's a tweaked Aisin AZ6 so the same box as the S15, Mx5, S2000 etc. Mine works just fine and feels pretty much exactly like an S15 box, I've just assumed it's big problem was that there's lots of americans driving it.

    Depends a lot on spec/colour

I've heard as little as a month for certain combos, but 4-5 months seems more likely

Unless of course you snag one already delivered at a dealer

Hmm. Probably dreaming to be honest, but after having my Vectra go bang in an expensive sounding way yesterday arvo, was half wondering if I could be in a manual 86 GT before its rego is due at the end of June.

I had no trouble finding two GTS models at a dealer only 10 mins from me in Sydney about a month ago. They are out there if you call around or enquire on the Toyota website.

Do some calling around and check on the forums where dealers post their available stock and it shouldn't be too difficult to find one if you're not really fussy on colour.

Mine took just over a month (manual GT). Was a canceled order so I just took whatever colour was available (silver), but a pretty easy process. It appeared to me that canceled GTS orders were everywhere, GT orders on the other hand were not as common.
