TJ wranglers shafts are little more than 1ft long. they have heaps more wheel travel than this. do it i say!

btw. wont that diff be heaps too short for the drags? maybe if it was a rotor.. but a torquey possibly turbo'd falcon motor id be looking at something with low 3's in the gears

Yeah thanks for the TJ info, that's reasuring.

4.44's and 20 inch tyres aren't going to go well with a long stroke 4.o litre.

Going to look at running coilovers on the front so that I can piss off the torsion bars as they are in the way a bit. Anyone got some (real) cheap coilovers?

Been thinking of getting it towed down to the local weighbridge to get an idea of where I'm at weightwise.

Whats the point? Are you considering running NA?

13's seem doable with a 1450kg Falcon. If this weighs ~1000kg then it should run better than a 13.9. Seems hell light and I can lift the back off the ground with ease.

I think they may have even dipped into 12s NA? But it would seem the mods needed for this would actually be more expensive that turboing? Not that you would need many NA mods if the car was 1000kg!

1 guy I know has run a 12.9 in a lightened EA, thin carpet, no heater stuff, no power steering etc. He had ITB's, a wolf V500 and is a cheque book racer so the details of what was done are sketchy. Extensive headwork, custom cam, slicks, 4.11 diff and possibly e85 from what I can gather.

He had an experienced drag racer behind the wheel too.

How is a truck only 1000kgs? Is it suzuki carry sized?

Got the rear suspension out and it looks like I can keep the torsion bars by clocking them and making some new brackets.

    http://img15.imageshack.us/i/20110115121955.jpg/

Need to drill out the rivets and slide the brackets back probably about 8 to 10 inches. I'll try to keep the standard rear springs but will pull a couple of leaves out of them.

Start three weeks holiday next week so that should help

Ok some wheeling and dealing has occurred. Got the Pintara for $50. I'll be using the diff, tailshaft, battery, radiator and possibly the alternator.

Local wrecker swapped my broadband intake manifold for a MPFI one.

Got a lead on a second hand wade cam and shims for $150

Pintara brings spend up to $184, oh $189 as I found an extinguisher at the wreckers for 5 bucks
