Would love to have one, used to have an idea of one with a bodylift, big wheels and a 2600cc oxyboxer.

So whilst enduring my long and painful wait for my body work to be completed I thought i'd treat myself
to something i've wanted for quite a while, after long negotiations on price and handing over some folding,
    this arrived today!

For those non-vw peeps, its a vintage speed Judson supercharger kit from the 50's that was offered by the Judson engineering corporation for 36 and 40HP beetle owners who wanted more grunt in daily driving.
Very simple to bolt on, and performance tests showed that it literally halves the 0-100km dash for an Oval beetle from approx 30sec, to 15seconds with a Judson kit fitted.
Obviously this thing isn't going to be a ball-tearer, but the addition of a rare'ish vintage speed accessory is just too cool!

A little bit of light reading for those interested further courtesy of the Judson Register:
    http://vwjudsonregister.tripod.com/v..._inst_page.htm

    Specs on my kit:

    - Fully rebuilt Judson compressor with new George Folchi Vanes
    - New top and Bottom Pulley as well as cover plate
    - New Air Cleaner
    - New High Pressure spring for the std fuel pump
    - New main jet
    - Fully rebuilt as new 28pict carby with Accelerator Cable linkage for Judson
    - As New Judson Magneto
    - New Old Stock Marvel Oiler and feeder line
    - New Belts
    - New Badge

To say i'm excited is an understatement

    omg marvel oiler!

i want to call you a cunt right now, i've been trying to find one of these for the '60 (it's harder than finding tail lights!! i have 3 good pairs now)

you need a beecatcher and some BRM's or EMPI 5 spokes now

btw, dad still has all his gear, i'm still trying to get him to sort through it and work out a list (i think he's just busy selling stuff, sold his thing and about to sell a golf)

judson did these for everything! (i think i saw one on a studebaker once)

Is that a resto-only panel shop? Looks to be lots of interesting stuff in the background as well as yours.

Marco - General paint and panel, but they do get a lot of classic stuff come in due to repeat happy customers.

Pete - Do it once, do it right!.....right?

Stix - Believe it or, they are the original floorpan halves and pan, matching number to the body as certified by VW Germany
It's ironic the entire lower 1 inch of the car was rusted, yet the pan is amazing needing only light repair!

Having never owned a beetle it's quite interesting to see one pulled apart. They are quite simple but also quite clever how they are constructed.

The repairs are coming along well..

    Just for you Marco

So it's been a while between drinks and a lot has happened in the last 3 months.
In short, I went overseas for a few weeks, got engaged and bought a new house with the lady.
We settled on Nov 2nd, and I have been working on the house ever since painting, patching, etc etc.

But, I have been keeping an eye on progress and also collecting more parts for the assembly stage

    ************************************************** ************************************************** **********************

It's coming together very nicely and there is a light at the end of the tunnel which is great.
Some goodies i've collected in anticipation:

    - CB Performance 2.5" dropped front disc kit (wide 5)
    - CB Performance wide 5 rear disc kit
    - Wolfsburg West triple chrome blade bumpers front and rear:

    RHD Cruiser pedal (thanks D-train!):

Also a fully restored September '54 VDO speedo from Thorsten @ vw-museum (http://120kph.twoday.net/) who i've dealt with previously and does amazing work.

    ************************************************** ************************************************** **********************

My 3-fold sunroof is also finished and will be shipping shortly. Owner, John Alba of Grumpy's Metal has been fantastic to deal with over the last 3 months -(www.vwsunroofs.com) and i'm looking forward to seeing it in the metal!

The colour will be L227 Strato Silver and i've ordered a blue stayfast canvas sunroof top, with gray headliner inside.
