Google is right with that answer though. Only because to chooses to use the brackets 10 + (10 x 0) = 10 is correct because you do everything in the brackets first so 0 + 10 = 10. So if people googled it and used that answer they were stupid for not knowing the difference between brackets and no brackets

But without the brackets you multiply first, than add. If you want to get an answer of 0 then you need to write it as (10 + 10) x 0 = ? But you knew that of course, didn't you?

No. No brackets you just to the equation left to right. You don't pick and choose what you want to do first and last. That's why brackets exist.

say you wanted to give 10 widgets to yourself and 10 each to all of your friends. How many widgets would you need?

Therefore you could write this as:

10w + 10w * x

where w = widgets and x = number of friends.

You have zero friends, therefore:

10w + 10w * 0 = 10
