Gen Y's are so fucking slack they can't even decide when their generation started nor finishes.

Some say 75, others 79 and I've even heard 83.

I'm going with the day after my birthdate in 1979. (28 April) Anyone whining about being Gen Y and claiming to be Gen X sounds pretty fucking Gen Y to me.

I know more Gen X's in bad personal unsecured debt then Gen Y's and that's looking at Pre 82 as Gen X.

Err that would be me cunt. Uni drop out, who worked through a business the old fashioned way by learning the ropes/systems and landing a decent role in projects. Have zero debt to my name and am currently saving to buy a house, as well as blowing stupid amounts of coin on a car but none of it on credit.

In the 5 years I've had a credit card I think I have incurred under $5 of interest charges.

I've just read every post in all 12 pages of this thread.
All I can say is either your as dumb as a post or you have a denial problem.
You might be "admitting" your "guilt" to fucking up but you sure as hell are not interested in really owning the fault and fixing it the right way. The fact is it's all fixable but it's going to be hard work and you clearly do not want any bar of it if it means real hardworking. You have said you like your job because it's not hardwork.
I'll be honest I think you're a lazy cunt who wants it all for free and now it's come time to pay the piper you are looking to pay by cheque.
I am however sorry to hear about the kid thing I can't think how hard that would be.

To the other guys in who have given advice. Wow great stuff some of the most helpful things I've read on P.F yet.
    Bravo sirs.

So you are going to declare that someone else is paying a chunk of the rent for the house you live in, or are you going to claim your living there solo hence worsening (on paper) your financial predicament.
This would also be regarded as income if declared would it not ?
good point, that is sub-letting which while the owner is aware of it is a grey area legally. Will have to get advice on that from these Fred Appleton people but im endeavoring to be as honest as possible.

A friend of mine who is Gen X currently owes 66k on credit cards and 800k in mortgage.
But he owns 5 properties and has a pretty strong income stream. Even he admits that most of his credit card debt is from big nights out and stupid purchases like dinners and jewelry.

if he "owns" five properties then why doesnt he just get a line of credit against one of those at 7% interest and then pay the 66k credit card debt off?

He probably has, it's been months since we last spoke. Was in the process of selling his parkside unit and hawthorndene house to wipe his debts clear last we spoke which might be why he had not done so already.

    What the fuck.
    Serioously.

You have an R33 that you can afford to take to EC wakefield mod it etc...
You can afford to go to the phillipines to try and find another ugly ping pong mole to marry and hope that they will love you not your ability to get them and their family into the country.
You have a 42" screen bought 3 years ago which would have RRP at over $3k
You live in slurry hills paying a mint in rent
    You earn $1k a week
Yet you cannot pay off a measly $80k debt which you have been servicing for 5 years?

Fuck i just want to punch you in your retarded head.

You are the opitomy of stereotypical dead shit train guards i see everyday.

Actually reading it like that I think bankruptcy is actually the best thing for this cretin, the debt is recurring because he wont cut the cards up, at-least going bankrupt he will struggle to get any kind of finance in the next 10yrs and then finally might gain some self restraint.

Also as he will have issues leaving the country there is also the chance he won't go and purchase another whore and bring back to also be a burden on society, its cunts that do this shit is what make it nearly impossible for legit people like me to bring my Thai girlfriend home for a holiday.

    lol fuck you old man.

Back on topic, I'm surprised you could even be declared bankrupt if you are servicing the loan and not defaulting on repayments. Bit of a cop out.

What does your pathological hatred for bankrupts come from? I don't get it. Did someone laugh about going bankrupt and it burned you? I can assure you this cretin pathamilton would be in the vast minority of people who end up bankrupt. In fact I have never heard of the trustee allowing such a dumb cunt to go bankrupt.

I would suggest that if there is any way of paying your way out of debt, however incurred, it is far preferable to pay it to avoid a fucking miserable 7 years.

Dude you linked the FredAppleton website to me, once i hit that thing up it was very hard to resist the allure of being able to dig myself out of the hole in the quickest way possible.
Seriously if i didnt read that thing it wouldnt even be an option for me. Why was the seven yrs so miserable for you?

If only Muz had been a reptile collector. He could have bartered his way out of the hole a little easier.

That's the thing though, the quickest way out of your hole is to pay your debts which are currently within your means to do so, going bankrupt on the other hand yes relieves you of your debts however the repercussions of such action will haunt you for the next 7years at a minimum, even then your credit history is still shot to pieces and will take a few years more to rebuild to a trusted level.

i am no bankruptcy expert but

say he earns $1k per week, Im pretty sure he said his interest payments were like $700 per week,

so if he paid off $700 per week, won't the size of the debt will stay the same for ever? thus his situation doesnt improve at all?

and say he got another job+extras earning $150 per week, thats $7.5k pa,

it would still take him 10years plus to pay it off........

If this is the case, I can see why bankrputcy looks appealing
