Is there a build thread on that car? Just trying to get my head around exactly what theyve done there. I cant see how they avoided cutting the stock passenger side box xmember mounting point off.

looks to be a SHITLOAD of cutting incl firewall!
I really should get off my arse and roll my gearbox into my car....might do it tomorrow night and take some pics.
Doubt it'll need any firewall mods considering an A340e fits down there piss easy and here is my T56 with the bellhousing from one.

Oh sorry, THEY might have to cut the firewall.....LS1/T56 bellhousing is a fuckload bigger than what Im using.

Box cost me $1,000 (fluke deal I found in the local classifieds), usually more like $1,500
Adapter plate cost $240
Bellhousing was sort of free (Worth maybe $50?)
Shifter will be ~$300 from the US
Tailshaft mods will probably be $300-500
Crossmember will be $20 worth of steel
Clutch/flywheel needs to be narrow to fit in the auto bellhousing, also needs to be push type so the only off-the-shelf things I could use would be a W58 package, re-splined to suit the T56. Im expecting to spend somewhere between $700-1500....will decide how much I wanna spend once I get some quotes/options.
So fairly cheap for what you get, alot more fucking around than an R154 though.

V160 is spastic expensive and is still a PITA to fit. If you already had one in a JZA80, obviously keep it, but Id never bother using one in a custom install job as I dont like the V160 ratios either.
My T56 conversion will cost about $2k+ clutch. V160 would be $1,000 more.
Plus, if I break my T56 a rebuild is $1,800.

to compare, this is what the 6spd getrag cost behind my 2jz
- box(integrated bellhousing) + fly + used stock clutch = $3200 would usually be $3500 or more
- custom tailshaft for ma61 (not far off what a ma70 one would be), 2 piece new centre bearing, has upgraded unis and integrated slip yoke in one section, $750 but should have been $1000 guy quoted low and wore it cause hes a champ.
i know its an ma61 and not the same, but it required cutting tunnel only, no issue with firewall.

Do you want a V8 or a 6?
The 2J will bolt in with the right sump and engine brackets, the LS will be custom.
The LS will be something different, the 6 will be same old same old but work, the car will still be worth fuck all with either engine. Power delivery will be quite different.
Edit : I am so helpful.![]()
I reckon as far as budgets go:
Upto 350rwhp target = LS1
Upto 500rwhp target = 2JZ
Over 500rwhp target = LS1
Apart from that, LS1 has more rumble goodness, 2JZ is easier and still pretty cool. Neither is a unique job by any means these days.

add the block offset and the timing gear and water pump and they are a bit longer than the average 4 cyl. Still way shorter than a 7M/1/2J.
Cool project!
Your social better.

You could maybe mount it further forward. Also might need custom headers which are serious coin.
I guess it is a little silly talking about it as if you want a budget manual ma70 with 350rwhp would be better to use a 7mgte or 1jz with w58. Well the 7m would be hard to beat budget wise i think.
Perhaps, but really.....what kind of faggot builds a supra with a max 350rwhp target in mind?
