'98 Land Rover Discovery TDi PF Price $4000

Had it 3 years and now I'm bored. I don't really need to sell it as it's awesome on fuel, tows anything I put on it and it's comfortable to drive.

    Boooorrreeedddd....

    '98 turbo diesel 5sp manual.
    Jewish Racing Brown.

It has the updated PS pump,
    4 new Bilstien shocks,
    New steering damper,
    New clutch,
    New vacuum pump,
    12 months rego,
    Chesterfield roof,
    Bluetooth MP3 CD player,
    Good tyres (prob year old),
    Ironman winch,
    Bullbar,
    Snorkel,
    Sand in the carpet,
Rear diff has been changed to one that is quiet,
Just had an oil and filter change.
Has a compas and thermometer (glued to the dash).
    Remote fob now works.
Now has TWO brand new heavy duty batteries for the dual battery system.

    Bad points:
    330,000km's
Tatty inside. Nothing real bad it's just been well used.
It has an uncanny ability to park over oil stains no matter where you pull up. Uncanny!
No engine oil leaks - I actually fixed them all. But think there's a drip from the transfer case bolt where I forgot to put sealant on it.
It has a minor dent in the passenger rear 1/4 which was there when I bought it and I'm too lazy to do anything about it.
ABS light is on because one wheel sensor is fucked. Don't know which one. ABS still works.
Land Rover door locks do Land Rover things.

It's been as reliable as any other 300,000km car. I don't expect anything else major to drop off it any time soon.

Has it been used on the beach? Yes. Fucking heaps. It's an absolute champ on sand and runs rings around cruisers and patrols.
Has it been offroad? Yeah, once or twice...

Has it ever had the underside properly washed?

    Yes.

I have done a few long road trips in this 4x4.
Its a very good thing although the sound of the motor still haunts my dreams.

They get compared with cruisers and patrols too much. A better comparison is with pajeros and challengers and pathfinders. Any of those of the same age and km's have similar issues. Once the coin has been spent they are pretty good hey.

Found famous 4x4 in the UK posts stuff fucking cheaply so feeding it the occasional set of shocks or engine part isn't the expensive and painful excercise it used to be.

    Cheers.
Its still going strong though it now has 335k on the clock and the tyres are at 50%.
its usefulness combined with my apathy means I will probably still have it by next year.

Now has 338k on the clock, but a new brake booster, headlights, brake pads, front wheel bearings and 12 months of rent.
Got 820k's to a tank last weekend (coonabarabran and back on one tank).

Yeah I can't post it on AULRO as I replace my own brake pads, clutch fluid and wiper blades instead of getting a licenced land rover specialist to do it.

The isuzu owners section is full of guys trying to work out how to reliably force 40psi into a stock engine with either 1 or multiple turbos without destroying an army spec gearbox.
These guys don't have a clue.
Ya'll don't know what it's like, Being male, middle class and white.

Now has a new clutch master and slave cylinder (slave cyl shit itself so I did both at once.) Also replaced a dodgey seatbelt and coolant header tank. Would have been $350 bought local but cost $200 delivered from Famous 4x4 UK.
Also bought a solid state winch relay and wireless remote system for the winch but haven't fitted it yet.

Now with 12 months rego, so it's going on carsales next weekend for $4500 but I'm open to sensible offers.
