Honda Dominator NX650 '93

So I've always wanted an adventure bike, so I bought this:

These are just gumtree pics...








93 nx650 oil cooled single, same donk as a xr650L. Previous owner has had it up to cameron corner (and its still geared for that ) Its done 40,000kms but overall looks great for its age. Came with a huge jerrycan/luggage rack and a few spare bits.

The only mods at this stage will be a jet kit, a trail tech digital dash (the stock speedo commonly shits itself like it has on mine) and just replaced the front knobbie with a Bridgestone trail wing to match the rear.

The only trip planned sofar is WSBK in feb next year, but would like to get out on some firetrails or something to start to learn gravel riding.

I can atest to the toughness of these rigs. we had old mate bring one of these up to the cape. Wasnt fast but damn we sunk the thing atleast 10 times and manged to get it started again quite easily.

nah this is more of a dualsport xr650l whereas the transalp and africa twins are a big watercooled vtwin. this thing was had for just over 2k

yeah adv rider is a good forum, when i get back from NZ im gonna follow a few maps some of the memebers there have sent me for beginer gravel work, just around ADL.

Knocked off early today (our planes are being too reliable at the moment) so I pulled the fairings/tank, fitted the jet kit (hardest bit was getting the carb out of the frame) started fitting the trail tech dash (just need some nice mesh sleeving for the various looms), and fixed the exhaust leak with some serious goopage. Tomorrow Ill grab some chemical and give it a good wash before I put the fairings/tank back on, may also do a 12v power outlet while the dash is apart. She starts alot easier and barely needs choke to run when cold, heaps better sofar It also had a couple of litres of Motuls finest (SA dirtbikes did me an awesome deal ) and is just waiting on a tube socket so i can change the sparkplug.

Last weekend rode it up to Birdwood with a mate on his Z750, it handled the hills much better than expected, shes turning out to be a pretty good allrounder.
