    Pajero iO

Anyone had experience with these Pajero iO's?

I want to get rid of my 4x2 V6 Rodeo Dualcab and get something heaps less thirsty, and have been looking at these for an option. I'm not really looking for a super offroading monster, just something that can get into some of the national park tracks for camping/fishing, and as a daily. Its gotta be pretty economical though, and post 1998'ish.

    These look ok:

    Pajero iO
    Pajero iO

Any other options I could be looking at for around 6-7500? Vitara? Jimny?

These are 100% better then Vitaras and Jimnys for everything but offroad use, and to be honest I think that's questionable in the Vitaras case. Much more room, still small though, and much nicer on road. Plus I keep thinking these use superselect, Uncle/supercrown can confirm, which allows unlocked 4wd use on the road.

We scored this for the Nopics a while ago for almost nothing.

NL model I think. 4cyl turbo diesel thing. Goes hard as hell and she loves it.

Yeh I reckon its a pretty good price. Nopics paid 8k for it a few years back. We thought deathtrap was tyre related but new tyres didnt change it. It seems to be a weight transfer issue makes the rear end get VERY loose under brakes. Might need shocks or something?

That SWB real pajero looks pretty awesome!

Looks like an NL Jtop, iirc the first mainstream production car with 18" wheels, which no one did tyres for.

Early models had a strange, very bloody firm, suspension tune. The Mitsubishi trainer mentioned something about leaving it in AWD all the time as that seemed to help things, same with every other Mitsubishi with superselect.

I know this is an old post, but a failed rear brake pressure limiting valve (usually on an action arm with spring from body to rear diff/axle tube) will do that, did mad brake slides into corners for the few days before I booked my lada in to get it fixed.
