    Kumho KL71's

    Just ordered a set.

Was going to go bfgkm2, but in the end, I give not much fuck and kumho's were cheaper.
Have I made a mistake that I am going to regret for the next 60,000kms?

Lol at fuckwits all over the interwebz saying you need two spares, as if the thing will fall apart if run backwards. Some people are inbred cunts, mostly 4x4 owners who argue about the amount and spacing of steps in roof rack access ladders between brands.

spares will be the existing MTZ's so I give 1/8 fuck.

existing MTZ's have lasted what looks like a million kms. Shorty isn't hard on tyres - they wear evenly and seem to last.

Depends on where you drive. I have two spares. Just in case one side runs over the same thing, or if you're in an area where its not practical buy another spare in case you shred one. Six tyre rotation is nice too. Having said that, my second tyre only goes on the rear bar about twice a year for long trips only.

Got these on now, they are quieter than the mt's, although will reserve judgement until the tread is squared off.

They seem like a good tyre for the money, not as noisy on road as some other muddies. Cunt to balance properly though.

About to pull trigger on 35s, predominantly for off-road use on my Hilux.

Same money I can have 15/35-15LT Interco TSL Bias and OPW 15x10 d-hole rims, or 35x12.5 KL71s and 15x10 Dynamic rims.

I don't mind swapping wheels for trail trips and the trailhead is at most 20km from home.

What does the peanut gallery say?
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe, and from this side only! The flight of a half-man, half-bird. Dinosaurs nuzzling their young in pastures where strip-malls should be. Cookies on dowels. All those moments lost in time; gone like eggs off a hooker's stomach. Time to die.

Most people don't need 2 spares, but unlike most other 4wd accessories (front bars, lift kits, Rigid Industries Light Bars) people usually don't fit them unless they really need to. Rear bars for carrying an extra spare are fucking expensive and carrying a spare on the roof is something most people want to avoid.

Swapping wheels is a PITA. Heavy buggers.

Yeah i thought long and hard about 2 spares and for most trips 1 and a decent tyre repair kit (and knowing how to use it) is more than adequate. I put 80k on my old MTR's without a single puncture so i'll be goodyear's for life now I think. Granted they're not a full mud but unless you're swimming in bog holes on a weekly basis they were a damn fine tyre. Shame about the new MTR's

As mondo said, those dual rear wheel carriers are damn expensive (2k+) for my hilux and after testing a few out I decided having twin swing arms on the rear would be an absolute pain in the arse on fishing trips and the like.

So far i'm very happy with my Duratrac's but they are yet to get a decent workout.

If any of you Brissy guys need tyres i've got a contact that will take care of you well, saved at least $500 on my set of Dura's.
