no need for the bell?? will put it back in the shed??
A340 or 341 doesnt either? $2 box of diodes and its manualised, i thrashed mine like that for over a year, no problems
Unless youve already got a A340e that fits and works, I dont see the point. T400 is a much simpler lump.
Stock A340e probably isnt gonna last for long behind this beast either.

fairy muff i guess
Getrag 233 supra box is fine for it considering R200's ratios range from 3.56 to 4.94. Thats a plan for later. Trimatic column shift clunker with no reverse will do for now.

WTF is a getrag 233? Supra box is called a V160 or V161. TKO would be shitloads stronger/better than either, plus will fit easier, V160s are huge. (Subaru might have a big trans tunnel though I guess)

run a soarer box (i think, one of the 1J boxes anyway) and you can run a line pressure cable off the throttle body, JayVee ran his aristo like that
T400 still makes perfect sense to me though, i don't see why everyone's against it

Soarer/Cressida 1j boxs have a line pressure valve body and can be fitted to solenoid line pressure control boxs with a little work.
T400 sounds like the go as this will no doubt be harder on boxs in low RPMs than 1/2j's which is where the toyota seems to struggle.

jzk: a340 cable is just line pressure, otherwise you only need to switch two solenoids, (theres another if you want to lock the converter)

Do a search on Toymods, there was a thread not that long ago about "manualising" A340/341s, i think someone had a diagram in there
Ive still got the little box of diodes for mine, might have some diagrams somewhere
Still, moot point if youve got a T400 ready to go....
I have an MV manualising box here from the supercrown (i think) - you can have it cheap.
Not that im trying to talk you out of a t400, but the a340 is a top bit of kit, and i just don't think you are going to get enough tire under the liberty to break one seriously.

how much do you want for that box mate?
i ran 10.5 with standard 1jz a340 with only a mv valvebody. my gearbox is also full manual cost me around $2 to do, dont use a stupid shift box they are as gay as aids. its a simple as using 1jz/1uz gearbox with line pressure cable, you can either hook cable to throttle as per factory or pull cable tight and run full pressure constant, mine is still connected to throttle and makes low speed shifts smoother. it would make your job so much easier and cheaper using the a340 and still have overdrive, i have built my box now and handles over 600rwhp fine and only cost me $1000 to build
heres a link i prepared earlier, i believe alot of people have done it this way since i started the thread

come to think of it this also works with boxes with TPS controlled line pressure, a mate with a jza80 has done this with TPS controlled auto and when power is disconnected the box runs full pressure, the switch works backwards for the line pressure so no power is full pressure. he has made 800rwhp on a standard a340 with modified vale body, the full pressure at low speeds doesnt seem to make it to uncomfortable to drive either

Collected some more parts this weekend in between getting drunk and watching Phil do shed skids in Wagoner's new E30.
Turbo 400 with adaptor plate for A340, That's a 2JZ bellhousing, haven't got the 1GZ yet. Just been rebuilt with a new drum, extra clutches and larger sprag. Needs a custom converter once I get the bellhousing and some dimensions.
Cracka did some work cutting off the plenums in preparation for some tapered custom jobs.
He also delivered the TDO6SL2 20G's and tial 38's via Phil's hitlerwagen.
Here's a shot showing the current effect of engine weight on the car. With the subaru drivetrain it sat level. Still the T400 and turbos etc to go but it gives a bit of perspective on engine weight.
