just drove 3hrs each way to look at this today, its epic....

everything thats been fabricated looks like it could be a stock item. even the v12 looks like its ment to be there, think subaru had this conversion in mind when they designed the car...

    nice work - two questions:

looking at the inlet manifold -will this have separate plenums (plenii?) for each bank?

if so , looks like the intercooler feeds cross over so as left turbo will feed the right bank and vice versa?

Yes they will cross feed each other. I am unsure whether this will be good, bad or irrelevant. It may help balance the airflow through the engine by using the opposite bank to supply exhaust gas to drive the turbo which feeds the opposing bank. Who knows. On the VQ30 I did it the opposite way but that hasn't run yet, so again, who knows.

Crossover intake won't make any difference. It would be good to get a balance pipe between the plenums though.

On a V12 it wouldn't matter at all I reckon. On a Vee twin it might be a bit of a thing.

Im thinking balance pipe across the back of the plenums is the go after looking at just about every good intake design google shows me.

I would like to hate this, because it is Cracka's.

Must confess, it's coming out kinda orright now it has turbos on it.

No. of cyls isn't the issue, turbo boost control isn't accurate enough so need balance tube to equalize intake for each bank. No much of an issue in terms of engine stress at a guess, but definitely an issue for the tune

enough room to convert the plenums to dual chamber (like the Audi WRC engines)? Just looks a long way from throttle body to rear-most inlet runner.

Cracka better come good with the plenums he promised.

Just a bit of fiddling around today. Had to make an adaptor to fit a different oil filter as the original filter was enormous and fouled on the compressor cover.

I turned up some bits in the lathe and then tigged them together to rduce the thread on one end from 30mm to 24mm.

I love the concept, i dont think i have ever seen one of those motors before. would be an interesting sound!

I have heard of twin turbo setups with separate flow paths to the engine but common plenum getting a slow oscillating reversion through the compressors at certain rpm. Having separate plenums should avoid this but if it you put a balance pipe across the plenums and it develops this phenomonom then a balance pipe across the exhaust should sort it out.

Did half the exhaust today. Would have got more done but had to remanufacture an alloy race sump for Face's mootec speedway car.

Dash is also out as I had to reroute the heater pipes and pull some unused wiring back through the firewall. Pro Ratchet is in position.

Cracka also took the two inlet manifolds to make plenums for them 2 days ago and instead spent two days playing online soggy SAO on his laptop.

    FUCKING DO SOMETHING CUNT.

Top work Al. Not many guys doing crazy conversions like the old days anymore.

    hey Al

where did you get the c-channel for the g/box x-member from? looks like folded plate and lighter duty (a good thing) then the usual hot rolled industrial-strength parralel flange channel.

You can use construction grade RHS and cut it to make channels, that's what I have done. It is stronger than mild too.

The C channel is part of a massive truck stack support beam that I found under the house. It just happened to be the right size for the rail.

Mostly finished the exhaust. The rear section is only tacked until the diff goes in.
