Yep, normal 16mm vacuum/boost fittings would have been better.

    That's how it should look.

Anyhoo, if the first thing you think when you open the bonnet of a white 2000 GX liberty and find a twin turbo V12 in there is "I wouldn't have used dash 12 speedflow for that balance chamber", you are surely fucked in the head.
calm down mate, im most certainly not having a go at you for the way you have done things! you have much more experience than i on such things and i would trust you to do it your way on my car. im just trying to get my head around aftermarket ECU operation, as ive only ever played with factory stuff (apart from a brief stint with 2 wolfs).

    so in this case:

i would expect the ecu to return to idle, as even though its got air, if you back off the TPS should be reading so and thus the ecu cuts fuel/ignition/both? until target RPM is reached (in this case idle). this is how a factory chrysler and toyota ECU works. does it not work this way on aftermarket ECUs (or even a paticular brand of ECU)? not having a go, im genuinely interested in getting learned on the subject.

I think you should have gone to Bunnings and used garden hose with the quick release connections haha. Anyway who gives a fuck, I wanna see this thing going.

HUH?? Drop a 10-12mm hose (post TB) off a toyota engine and it will rocket up in RPM (to a balance point relative to the size of leak). Once the ISCV is shut there is nothing to stop the air flow into the manifold and it will draw whatever it wants, even at the idle timing of approx. 20deg the MAP sensor will read actual manifold pressure and supply the required fuel.

As for A/M it should be the same RPM will increase as per any vacuum leak. Idle TPS 'may' lock timing, but won 't lock fuel or speed (when the idle valve is in it;s shut position it can't manipulate to let any less air through than the leak), but this won't stop the RPM increasing.

When driving if under boost engine should go rich and go 'flat', you;d know something was rong most likely and back off to the above condition.

    .
nope. like i said, all the EFI toyotas ive worked on (4ages, most new toyos etc), chrysler shit, they do exactly as i said. they do a high speed hunt as they have gone above target idle (as the TPS reads 0 so the ecu knows it should be at idle) and the ecu first shuts off the iscv, then if target rpm is still exceeded if turns off ignition or fuel till it hits target, and so on and so forth, hence the high speed hunt. you can acually see the ECU doing all this through the toyota consult II and chryslers starscan diagnositc scanners.

^ that is also what i said a few posts back, and was told i was wrong by number8 and al..

so im going off to introduce an air leak on my skyline and the missus' mazda, whats the bet ill be wrong

anyways, as much as a cunt as cracka is, this is getting a bit too far off topic, so ill leave it there and let al get on with shinanigans.

Al spent 20 minutes today twitching some wires together, I loaded up iTunes and downloaded the 1GZtt app and she fired on the first go.

Yes. You forget the part where Dave and Cracka pointed an talked epic amounts of shit, your old man fell asleep in his plastic chair and the ridgebacks ran amok/and/or slept in our way. Either way, it was a win.

i like how build time for this can be measured in weeks as opposed to every other 1GZ project which must be measured in years

Al is a competent man with the support of in the know people and a lifetime of industry contacts. Its hardly surprising.

In a week or two I'll be shovelling cash at this to have it finished. Lots of niggly shit to be done by Al yet but yesterday suddenly made me interested in the whole thing again.

Yeah, listening to the 12 fire into life on the first attempt stirred something.
