Yeah, the ECU has a detector for flat brim caps, puts it in valet mode.

Did some more fiddling tonight. It makes bulk torque from idle but measured power is pretty low. Best was about 350hpatw on 8psi. It didn't respond well to boost so we left it running off the gates. The VVT is not working atm, have to talk to Mark tomorrow and sort that out. Dunno how much difference that will make. The converter flares straight to 4k on a power run which is a bit more than the 2800 requested. No rods broke.

It's going to be shit on the highway, 3500 at 100.

    What'd you rev it to?

Be interesting to see if VVT does make much difference. Any idea what Toyota normally do with cams? Advance through the mid range and then back to full retard in the top end?

Also be interesting to see what difference there is through a manual. I'll be able to well top end Cracka. LOL.

I suspect that this type of engine combo won't tell the full driving story just with the dyno numbers.

You guys used to jap engines are always disappointed when you dyno one with a big stall. They just don't show power.

I'm betting that would be another hundred through a manual and it will be a fucking weapon with that much.

I suspect that might be the case Muz. Dyno operator reckons it will be nuts on the road, the tractive effort is very high (~1100nm at 4k, dropping to 600 at 5500). It's running like a charm regardless.

Like my VK before Dave wrecked it- only made 200 hp at the treads but went pretty good. Was no drag car but more like mid to late 200s through a clutch.

I bet I can hear you cunts giggling from here after you drive it.

stall sounds too high. When is peak torque? might be faster with a lower converter

Stall is too high. Is supposed to be 2800. Don't think TCS guy thought it would have as much torque down low as it does.

    Early days anyway.

vtec is a little different to the vvt though, as if the second cam wasn't engaging that will cost bulk power. But the vvt, I am not sure how they are on the 1g. Is it start advanced and retard in the top end? if so will make a little more

They stall higher on the dyno than the road.

    It will be perfect.

VVT could make a huge difference, or a minimal one, it will depend on how conservative it is with it off really. if it gives it a fair advance on the inlet cam then it should make a good difference though.

Interesting that it didn't really respond to more boost though, those turbos on 2.5L each won't really even be in their efficiency range yet.

looks and sounds incredibly staunch though, and no doubt it wil be fucking fast to actually drive!

It has 60 degrees of variance relative to crank angle. I don't know what that means in real world operation though.

the vvt helps most with low down torque/spool, the vvt setup instructions in the help file are fairly good, walks through the cam test function etc.

I think Clayton peed a little.

I think it's right on the money.

250kw atw with the auto at 8psi, that's fucking stout.

Happy days. Now tweak it so it gets 10L/100kms round town and it's the perfect car.

That would be 11000N of tractive effort no?

FUCK. my EZ + GT4088 pushed a peak of 8000N.
