well if it is in retard mode normally and does advance in the lower rpm (like I think it does. Most toyota works like this) It is not going to effect max power. What it will do is somehow give more torque and power in the low rpm.
Good choice on turbo's aswell as generally the trust/copy items are a little better at low boost levels that the garret equivalent. But as you say interesting more boost doesnt help. Maybe these engines are exhaust port limited?
Be interesting to see where peak torque is made. I dont think these v12's rev too hard. Ideally you want your converter to be set at least 600rpm or so before peak torque. So if its currently making peak torque at 3800rpm its just wasted spinning up the converter instead of frying tyres.
It makes bulk torque down low, the converter just won't allow it to be measured on the dyno at full load.
I am sus that an extra couple of psi made no measured difference, that is a reasonable indicator that the auto is eating up numbers.
It needs a taller diff anyway. 3500rpm at 100 is not going to be practical and it wouldn't trap very well either as it's only 140kmh where the power falls over. I found a VK56 armada diff for $350US on ebay, the internet says you can hybrid them together easily enough.
Converter too loose?

Fuck yeah.
I reckon I could go the other way with how tall my gearbag ratios are. Except it requires finding a rare aftermarket 4.1 cw/p for the R230 that look to be about $1k a pop.
Maybe a little.
And half the traction.

I may be able to use a xGR V6 trigger instead as it will have dual VVT. Can't find any info on what crank trigger it uses as yet though.
FOund this on motec forums re 2GRFE.
The cam sensors are hall output mag sensors. They use an IC within to change the mag output to hall. The input to the sensors are 5V and so is the output. The crank is a mag sensor (36 minus 2).
Could be suitable, the crank trigger is correct and assuming it uses 120degree cam lobes could work.
I don't know if you can just choose 36-2 crank and then just configure your own VVT settings.
what are 3.7 out of, is that 19th of this month

Righto, I now know a fuckload more about Vipecs and VVt.
Fucked around with it and no matter what the RH cam would not sync. Found out how to do the calibrate shit which all worked fine but still no sync. Ended up changing the VVT mode to 1GRFE and it synced up straight away. Then checked the spark delay which was 4degrees at 5k rpm so adjusted the delay figure to 125(microseconds?) and it's nice and stable.
Time to go back on the dyno. I have JasonP's VVT map for a 2JZ VVT but if any gurus(Dale) want to give tips it would be appreciated.
this is what i like about the work you do Al... every time there in an issue you dont just give up and tell the customer... dunno how to fix... you keep playing with it until it works again...
