What JZK25 said, there must be hundreds, if not thousands of 1HZs in Australia with turbos on them.
Had a DTS kit on mine, with boost compensator, front mount and 15psi. Never had an issue. Keep EGT's under 550deg MAX, will last forever.
Diseasel 80 series with 100 series
Toyota dealers were getting 1HZs turboed when new, Safari/ARB/Luxons in the day.
'75 international acco fire truck!!
'70 VG sedan - current project, now 13's for $1300 project
'70 dodge yoot, current project - mothballed long term
'73 KE25 corolla - race car
'74 KE25 corolla - back on the road!
'89 BNR32 skyline - mothballed..
Rods wont be nice price from Mr Toyota-you would need new pistons, as the pin sizing is different from 1HZ to 1HDT/FTE.Cheap insurance to chuck new conrod bearings in before you turbo-job can be done with motor in vehicle no worries.
Neighbour had one with Denco kit and LPG added. He's an old bloke but he said it'd tow fully loaded with a fully loaded caravan no dramas and still do 150 up the hills :P
EDIT: Post now makes no sense

New idea; if your engine needs a birthday-mob in Queensland do a rebuild kit for 1HZ, (gaskets, rings, brgs, pistons etc.),but also includes Turbo conrods, and the relevant pistons, for (top of my head ) dollars of about 2 g.Engine Australia dot com,not sure if they do general public sales, but have agents countrywide.(no I dont work for them, have used them a fair bit; very switched on about their line of work.)
