Fact is there are cheaper options for them to use than the bespoke blocks and heads they use now.

They won't be changing the current Ford or Holden engine for at least a few years if not more. there is too much money already invested, HRT have over 25 engines in their pool. The development costs are also staggering for a new engine and take years to get to the level they are at now.
You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape...

Ah, but just like changing over their cars, they have a ready pool of buyers in the Development Series and the V8Touring Car Series.
Not to mention the engine parity that COTF brings. Longer term, it makes a lot of sense.

yes. Since the cars create such low amounts of negative lift, the boundry layer effects of a moving surface relative to the vehicle need to be accounted for. Simplistically they will only be the same if the under tray/diffuser/splitter/rear wing is the same between all three cars.
    My car
    Corolla

Rorz: With their engines Harley have discovered the ultimate way to turn fuel into noise without any annoying bi-products like horsepower. Amazing really.
willsy01: i'd organise for my neighbour to look after the kids whilst I go play golf/work on the car/play with nunchuks in the backyard.

    Which are?

The Ford Motorsport block the V8 Supercars use is the M-6010 with a 4.125" bore. They are readily available for about $1600. Hardly big dollar and bespoke.

True that they used to machine them to death.
I think they have set some realistic bare block minimum weights now.
The Nissan V8 block apparently has to have weight added.
