stub axle ball joint remover -

i hate removing ball joints - allways seems so much fucking about with levers etc , hammers .
had to remove from the stub axles on my Ford falcon Xk .mmm drum brakes all round

had a think and came up with this .

if we talking stub axle ball joints

    heres mine -(pat pending)

need get some compression on the ball joint taper and hit both sides of the stub axle (around the ball joint taper) with some hammers .
mine actually popped out with out the hammers .

M14 rod , 2 nuts and cut to fit tightly between the threaded tapers.
loosen the nut on the ball joint you want out first .

put rod in between the ball joints

screw M14 nuts out so they push on the ball joint nuts and tighten away .

the M14 nuts push on the ball joint nuts - (which push the threaded taper)- so youre not actually pushing on the end of the threaded taper directly- if that makes sense)

i chose M14 as the nuts fit over the threaded taper - so the threaded rod doesnt pop out under compression as you wind the nuts out.

leave the ball joint and nut in the stub axle (that you just cracked) and then do other one.

left side ball joint nut is loosened a few turns, right side nut (of photo is still tight)
