    The Gemi

So about 6 years ago i seen a cheap TX Gemini coupe on the net for $800 with a blown motor but very little rust, so i decided i needed a project (stupid decison). Anyhow it has sort of escalated from a tidy up.

The aim is to have a nice registered car that looks fairly original, but handles and goes.

So straight away i got to stripping the car ready for paint..
and i got carried away changing things and tidying everything up.

I then got carried away again and took the whole car back to bare metal..

I didn't like the vents and decided i wasn't going to use the standard massive heater/fan unit so we welded them up.

I bought this grille off ebay, It doesn't look as out of place or stupid as you may think on the car.

Got carried away and took it back to bare metal under the guards too

Skipping a couple of stages and about two years and it was painted, i chose a rare original gemini colour in PPG paint.

I got a couple of alloy things made up to suit then.. just for the wank factor

the old man and I then rebuilt the motor

    Forged pistons
    MLS head gasket
    head was looked after
    etc etc

Custom turbo manifold to suit T28 turbo
I have a GT2871r turbo new here but it is a chinese one and i'm not sure whether to use it yet..
I bought some 1000cc injectors and Haltech Sprint 500 and LS1 coils

i started putting the interior back in so i could get it trimmed, i put suzuki swift Gti seats in the front
and i'm getting them all trimmed in black leather.

I also bought some wheels from the states 15x8"

and that sort of takes me where I am up to at the moment,
The motor is almost ready to bolt in and the seats are at the upholsterers.
I hope to have a fair bit done in the coming week or so and will update this.

I put a Por15 kit through the tank so it should be pretty sweet for E85 and the fact that it was getting rusty from sitting around for so long

And just dummied up for the photo

and started knocking this up today ready for the upholsterer (bless alpine with their new slim speakers saving me having to cut the metal parcel tray )

I have it written down some where, took ages for the painters to find it. Valencia orange is the name but it is different to toranas and other holdens,

    Neat indeed!

Although if I ever had my hands on a Gemini coupe it would end up looking like this

Not a fan of Geminis at all, but love the look of this. I really think the wheels suit it too. Good job.

I was all excited about it being white with Simmons. But it colour and wheels you went with are great. It is funny how cars I used to turn my nose up back in the day are now very cool. They all just disappeared.

This.. I hated geminis with a passion because every penis haircut leb on their P's or greasy greek nosed wog would be thrashing the shit out of a shitter every where.

I did my learners and test in a Gemini.

A lot of my mates had them back in the day.

They also seemed the car of choice for a lot of hot young girls as well (circa 1987!)

this seems a lot cooler than some tracky dack wearing early 90's spec thing - though FJ20ET and welded diff sounds fucking fun for the age!

so the swift of it's day in terms of young chicks? mum definitely loved hers and if she's to be believed, i apparently couldn't let go when she sold it! ah, starting early and maybe why this makes me more than slightly happy in the pants...
