That list bears little significance to what is on the grid. Six cars were added this year alone, which aren't on there. I'm on the eligibility committee.

shouldn't the list of eligible vehicles determine what's on the grid??? Sounds like MG Hillclimbs are more strict about this list than the circuit racers!

the 17/02/2012 update only added one car. If the rules and this list are so badly out of date, how do competitors who aren't in the priveledged position of being on the eligibilty committee know what's eligible? Pretty ordinary work by CAMS if they left 5 cars out!

Never seen CAMS rules being completely ignored by CAMS before...

Does the Prodsports Assoc keep a seperate list of eligible cars?

I'm not going to get into it too much here, but there has been a major change this year. Previously there had to be 10 street registered examples in Australia to be considered. Now there has to have been 100 cars built with the same specification globally and there must be a street car version. Then the car has to be approved by the eligibility committee. Not sure why you think that's a privilege. It's a thankless volunteer position. The CAMS document will be up to date soon enough.

    priv·i·lege   /ˈprɪvəlɪdʒ, ˈprɪvlɪdʒ/ Show Spelled [priv-uh-lij, priv-lij] Show IPA noun, verb, -leged, -leg·ing.
    noun
    1. a right, immunity, or benefit enjoyed only by a person beyond the advantages of most: the privileges of the very rich.

Most of us only have the "hopelessly out of date" list that "bears little significance to what is on the grid" to go by. You on the other hand, get to enter cars that no-one outside of the eligibility comittee would know was eligible...

What better way to get your car on the list than arrange for an eligibility officer to have a drive of it?

When did it change to 100 cars??

The current CAMS manual currently says 10. Are there 10 registered in Aus? can it be registered in Aus? This was what we had to prove to get the Daytona Coupe a legal, genuine 2b sports car.

BTW, I would like to see the car race with us, I just dont really understand how it is decided. But I am not in the committee, so I dont see the clubs inner workings...

    Yawn.

Jamie, it was added to the CUE Sports Car Enduro Handbook this year. It can be downloaded here: http://www.prodsports.com.au/?p=1738 The decision is made by a number of committee members. I was not consulted on the Nissan's, BMW's and Monaro added to that list, so obviously I have little influence over these matters.

Oh, that is why... The Cue sports car enduro rules different / separate to CAMS 2B. That makes more sense.

It will be good to race with you again, hope the preparations all go well.

We are back to 6 litres from 7 to comply with 2B cams regs, so we might struggle a little more this year...

I should have said that earlier. This has also been put to CAMS though.

I'd say we will be a way behind the Daytona. You'll be in class A right?

yeh class A I think. (I dont really know the classes that well, but I expect the fastest cars)

We have done a bit of aero work also, to comply with 2b, reducing the rear wing width, and the front splitter overhang, these requirements will make it hard for some of the GT3 cars to comply, which is a shame, as they generally look fantastic.

Will that mean it does bigger wheelies over the hump on mountain straight?

You need to get 1200 coupes eligible. Remove restrictor + slicks = more fun than Daytona. *

*maybe not. But would be farken cool.

Overall, I think we have a better front to rear downforce ratio, so hopefully this year we can keep the front wheels on the ground up mountain straight!

I just wouldnt drive the 1200 coupe without a restrictor. It is without a doubt the most dangerous car I have ever driven. If you hold it flat up mountain straight, it wheelspins over the hump, if you lift, it is worse!

I have a lot of respect for The guys in the 808's for how well they drive them!

It's not in there either. The Nissan's, BMW's and Monaro are, but search couldn't find Ginetta or G50.

The Sup Regs say "For cars complying with the Technical Regulations for 2nd Category – Sports Cars, Group 2B - Marque Sports Cars and Group 2F - Production Sports Cars as published in the current CAMS Manual of Motor Sport."

Don't see how the Ginetta is eligible. I know MG Car Club would not let that run in 2B at a club level hillclimb. If its not on the list, its not Marque Sports. 2A Closed is what this would be classified as. Strange they'd allow it in a circuit race.

CAMS is all about position and influence so for anyone involved in motorsport under CAMS you play by those 'rules' or else. You take an advantage if you can get it and similarly cop the rough end if that's the way it turns out. It may be 'wrong' but that's the way it is.

If anyone offered me a race car for Bathurst I would not give a shit about eligibility issues.
