    Rip vtr250

In January I bought this bike off Kyle. It had just over 20,000km on the clock.
In August last year Kyle bought it off Aaron in Canberra. It had just under 10,000km on the clock
Aaron bought it new in 2005

Since buying it I had it serviced, fitted new plugs, new chain and sprockets, new front springs and had the carbs overhauled. It was running really, really well.

Sadly, it is now a write off. It died with 20,622km on the clock. Cut off in its prime by a woman in a Ford SUV who didn't know how to check her mirrors or over her shoulder before deciding to suddenly veer across 2 lanes to get into an exit lane that had already been going for >300metres.

    More pics here.

    R.I.P. little Honda.

Hey Kyle. Healing up pretty well. My right arm/hand is still pretty week from the breaks but movement is excellent. Legs are slowly getting better. I can drive but getting in and out of the Elise without using my right hand is tough. I sold my Golf about a month ago which would have been a doddle to get around in.
X-ray of the plate in my arm. Held on by 8 screws!!! You might also see the fracture in the bone going to the middle finger which is the one causing most discomfort and the broken-off bit at the end of the arm bone on the right.
If you dig a hole and it is in the wrong place, digging it deeper isn't going to help.

Hope you get better soon mate. Definitely makes me wonder about my own safety riding round Sydney. Hope she gets charged with something serious.

Sucks to hear but good that your not too seriously injured, infact you came off worse than the bike, is it really a write off as most of the damage looks cosmetic.

This is the list of damaged parts I could see on my quick inspection:
Fuel Tank dented and scraped both sides
    Seat torn
    Seat surround scraped
Left side foot peg broken off
    Left rearset scraped
    Gear lever bent
    Clutch lever scaped
    All four indicators broken
Left side Oggy Knob broken off
Right side Oggy Knob bent and scraped
    Headlight surround scraped
    Instrument housing scraped
    Instrument surround scraped
    Handle bars bent
    Left side bar end scraped
    Left mirror scraped
    Front mud guard scraped
Minor scraping right side of frame
    Muffler badly bent
Front brake lever bent and scraped
    Accelerator control housing broken
    Throttle grip torn up
Right mirror broken off at base
Master Cylinder housing broken, lid broken

I'd be surprised if the forks aren't at least a little bent as they took the brunt of the collision.

Add up the cost of all those parts new from Honda plus the labour for r&r and it adds up. Bike was only insured for $4k. Oggy knobs and Radguard add about $350. Destroyed clothing comes to about another $800.

Kyle, as much as I like those mid-00's baby Monsters, if I buy one it will be late model non-LAMS. Might have to give some serious thought to a cafe rat first though.

    Ouch!

Not much good to you now, but I was always told never to put yourself between a vehicle, and an exit, no matter how ridiculous the scenario seems.

Only just read this, glad you're on the mend. Shame to have it happen because it was a great bike and it was great it was finally getting ridden...
