shit flange + belt sander = profit

    tl;dr

got shitty ebay tubular manifold for ~$150.

Cut single flange bank into two 3's one shifted a few mm soon as i finished cutting it.

Flange surface looks like pizza face teenager.

instant gasket + gaskets to head does not stop le exhaust leak.

Belt sander to each flange to flatten surface might help, no shops will want to mill it apparantly as it would be a proper cunt to set up.

if i fuck it up ive got a simpler stock cast manifold turbo adapter id like to try.

here is a pic of manifold before being cut in two, the surface on mine is worse

surface grinder is abit of an overkill, wack it on a mill and take a cut.

was told its the good thing to do with shittily constructed manifolds as it will crack if not done.

the two flanges are on slight seperate angles so they would need to be milled seperately. if i get a flat flange surface the gaskets will make up for the difference, the banks move when bolted down, will know when i see where the leak is on the head/manifold for sure.

migtht just try find some old school shop to do it. otherwise ill just go cast iron setup.

yeah seems the go, will just touch it up, getting it milled means paying for someone to rig it up, apparantly its a proper cunt to do.

I would have thought it would pull up with the bolts if it's only a few mm. I would just smooth the surface with something like a belt sander so the gaskets have a good surface to seal on but not try to get them level.

Have you checked that your bolts/studs aren't bottoming out before the manifold pulls up to the head?

Other way to the tweak out of the manifold might be to bolt it to a head then heat it in a few strategic locations red hot then let it cool slowly before unbolting

yeah i think one of the nuts wasnt properly tightened so it may have warped and lifted that area too but ill see how i go. will be ovbious when it ake the manifold off, will hopefully see a black stoot line where its failing to seal

oh yeah flange is about 1.25cm thick at least... pretty beefy.

You would think so, but after my turbo manifold blew a few gaskets I put a straight edge on it, barely out 1mm and it's only a 4cyl. Machined it and it was fine for quite some time, until it warped again

may be binning that for this

I am getting .4bar of boost creep in 3rd with internal WG. its a worry because i plan to run about 1 bar and the sensor runs out of measure at 1.4~ bar so its important i dont go past that as itd run waaay lean.

Could it be that i am too retarded (running 16-14 degree at high rpm 180-210kpa).

Also forgive these dynoryder IQ level threads, i really know fuck all about cars but i am trying to learn quick lol.

Bolt the cunt to an old head, or the head, and heat the tubes close to the flange to red. This is a known fix.

Milling them is almost impossible- a big belt sander, probably found in a wood workers workshop, is how a lot of this stuff was surfaced OE.

MAKE SOME DECENT BLOODY GASKETS like what I suggested above!!

    http://www.garlock.com/products/?product=163

That is a Garlock sheet on the bottom and the shit house Clevo exhaust gaskets that come from Felpro on top.

Hmm. Decent exhaust gaskets are often multi layer stainless steel shim type now.
