    twin turbo bonnet ideas/help

am getting bit of fibreglass work done on the bonnet, am putting in some NACA ducts, question is i have seen some guys do a hood over the top and some that don't. is it worth doing the hood with the ducts? case in example PSIDUP doesn't even have the ducts. fibreglasser is speaking to his aero guy, wouldn't mind seeing what others have done/seen.

    PSIDUP no ducts etc

MrMad Torana has both ducts and bulge cover

also same goes for intake pipe/manifold does it need to be covered at high speeds so the air can't come in under the bonnet? because of the angle of the bonnet can't think of anything that would suit it in the way of a reverse cowl etc. possibly some sort of air splitter at the front of the pipe, push the air around it a little or over it? oh n yeah that is a swan pot holder in the background this is what im working with:

A drag racer concerned with aero You need to get the air out from that bonnet so the reverse cowl idea is a good one. The more you can get the air out the better the cooling and there will be less drag and more downforce too.

yeah, as myshortyboomba said reverse cowl draws air in, i was thinking more of a reverse cowl bulge that would maybe end up against the windscreen. or possibly like an XR8 type bulge.

air dam in front of the intake pipe? moving air around it maybe.

that was actually one of the car's i was looking at setting it up like he has changed it a couple times also went from hooded turbo to full enclosed. the Briscas Camaro was another i was looking at also, as it is a very very similar shape.

I think 3 letterbox scoops would suit this body style best

Nah maybe like a narrow BA bulge in the middle and ducts for the hairdryers. Hoods would look ok on yours coz they'd just be a little bulge

P.S. I have pot plant envy

Sorry, I forgot that some people need everything spelt out, like a reverse cowl does not have to exit close to the windscreen and to extract air should not be so located

i have seen a couple of Camaro's with them which are a similar shape. if there is any bored photoshop guys, and want something to do here is a full sideshot. i think it should possibly start right down the bottom of the bonnet, slowly rise up, i dunno as the motor pretty much ends a few inches off the windscreen. will see what the aero guy has to say, maybe doesn't need covering. being light maybe only 2500lbs and a very very small car it might cop a bit of aero problems..

Just something simple that looks good as well like this. Bulge cover would get pretty toasty warm wouldn't it?

IMHO, all 3 covered and smooth, xr8 style, NACA duct infront of the turbos.

Something like this but the outlet pointing almost straight back.

How come the intake pipe sticks up so high?

The red bonnet above looks good, I would go with something like that infront of the turbos. Or you could remount them behind the front wheels, it's where all the cool kids are putting them.

that is pretty much what i wanted to go with. fibreglasser suggested the hood, im not too sure, i'd imagine it would get pretty hot, but maybe continuous heat would hurt it more than a few short squirts. the good thing is the exhaust housings don't hang out too much. i know when the brother's fibreglass is on his car and we go for a cruise it makes it very flimsy and warps the paint, even though it's quite thick. street car maybe not so good, drag car ok?

it's another way, you talking maybe something similar to this? funnily this car runs the same engine and intake manifold i have.

it's a bottom feed intake manifold. instead of the air coming from the top like a normal intake manifold, the air goes into the bottom of the manifold and works its way up. i asked for it to be straight, however the initial designers said it's better with it angled like that

i do have plenty room to put the turbo's pretty much anywhere. the car has a big nose like its owner

I didnt even think of putting them all as one big higher bonnet, just 2 small and 1 large xr8 style hump, but I like that idea even better.

3" body lift would fix it. Maybe ARB has one in stock?

PSIDUP is now looking very different.. And now running a 632ci BBF.

I'd run a setup similar to what methodmania posted.. Just without the kitchen cupboard handles.

everyone i spoke to, seems to think that is the way to go.

RMX yeah PSIDUP is gonna be off it's fuckin' head. should be Australia's first 6-sec radial car. Innocent Motorsports doing the work now, or is it back at SCF? i have seen some photo's of it at Kryger's workshop, not sure if he or Craig is doing all the new conversion etc.
