PEDAL BOX - current flavour?

So my new shell i bought is auto and didnt come with a brake booster... in hindsight two questions i probly should have asked...


Anyway ive decided to stop fucking around and buy a pedal box, been looking at the AP racing floor mount jiggy. Seems a sexy bit of gear, cnc arms, bearings and AP masters. Around the $1200 Australian mark.

Any other notable brands i should look for? anything to steer clear of? Cheers

would it be a simple thing to adapt a common (commodore, falcon etc.) booster and master ? and for the clutch, some cars came out with a removable pedal box for the clutch. early magna springs to mind. might save some dough ? are you near p'n'p wrecker ?

Being a nissan, surely there is something that is interchangable?
Pedal boxes are a pain in the arse to setup.

Wilwood or Tilton? Pedal boxes are a couple hundred USD plus master cylinders which are like $70-$100 each. Pretty affordable I think.

yeah i dont want to adapt anything from another car, been looking at wilwood and tilton but cant find a floor mounted style to suit my needs

used boxes from most of the big names as well as some of the smaller ones and hand made units.

By far the nicest pedal box I've used was designed by one of my customers and fabricated in house. It was so smooth to use and gave phenomenal pedal feedback. There was a massive amount of time put into fabricating it though and the cost was 3x what he could have purchased one for.

The best off the shelf floor mount I've used would be the 900series tilton units.
They are expensive compared to the 600 series but once you've used both you'd appreciate the extra coin spent.

The Ap boxes are fairly good but alot of the ones I've used have a notchy type of feeling to them particularly the clutch pedal. The s2000 that comes in uses an Ap and it's one of the worst I've felt.

Wilwoods tend to flex and give really poor pedal feedback. A couple of them I've welded supports to the back side of the pedals and they improve greatly.

I have one of these setups and whilst it "works" it is on the budget side of things and you can tell the difference with the good ones. I was playing around with an AP floor mounted pull setup earlier today, very very nice and I would look seriously at one if it was within my budget. (about $4,600 for the base pedal box plus master cylinders etc.)

Thanks for everyones advice, with the two recomendations of Tilton being excellent thats what ive gone with, in the 600 series.

Summit Racing in the US have 600 series floor mount pedals. Not sure if they are the cheapest but normally they are pretty competitive?

Have built a few sports seadns with tilton 600 series pedal box's, nothing like a pull style ap box, but value for money is as good as it gets.

Those reservoirs are are massive PITA to fill when they're in the footwell.

You'll notice a hell of a lot of difference. The pedal effort is usually quite a lot higher though there's many variables of course.
FWIW I'm putting one into the Fraser right now.

I worked out the Falcon lever ratio with booster was 3.6 to 1, the Tilton can do up to 5.65 to 1

Not many droopz. Wouldnt be hard to rig one up though, or use a pressure switch off the front circuit.
