    Spool time gt42 on ls1

Anyone know when you would see full boost(10psi) with gt42 t4 1.10 on a stock LS1 manual
And when woul it start to get boost

Don't know about a GT42. But a GTX42 is the way to go. It spools the same as a T04Z on an LS1 full boost by 4000rpm. GT42 will be a fair bit slower than that.

I make 550whp @ 12psi and 621whp @ 14psi on a stock LS1 with valve springs and rod bolts with E85. Gets driven everyday and done 22,000km turboed and 152,000km in total.

Isn't the GTX series designed for high-boost applications?

I was under that impression also, no real benifit unless you are almost off the compressor map.

    how do you figure that??/

last gt42 i did was full boost at 3900rpm with a .96 rear housing.. ran 137mph in a full weight VY on street tyres.. on petrol not E85 too..

check out the range of Precision PT67's comes with all different size exhaust wheels, 900-1000hp turbo, will spool up very quick. seen a fair few LS guys in the US use them.

GTX is billet comp wheel as well. Lighter wheel spins quicker. You know the rest

My GTX is a 1.10A/R is I'm guessing a GT with the same A/R rear would be slower to spool. And since the original poster asked about a 1.10A/R then what I said was valid.

hmm i think i'd prefer the better efficiency at the lower airflows - and sacrifice the performance at 50psi on an LS1..

Yours will be the new housing.. Which is smaller than the old .96.. The old housing was a T6 inlet and was massive

Posts maps to "prove his point" obviously doesn't actually look at them in detail. Check the efficiency numbers or where they cross pressure & mass flow lines? That clearly indicates say between 1.5-2 PR (your 7-15psi "low boost" range) that the GTX compressor map is wider and at a higher efficiency point (albeit maybe only a % point or 2, which equates to maybe 3-4% operating efficiency improvement) pretty much everywhere than the cast wheel, but extends beyond it at the same efficiency levels. More total flow, no loss in the bottom end, almost like an improved design you might say, rather than just a different wheel trim of the same technology?

I don't see that they both peak at 77% at a pr of 2, but the GTX requires the engine to take more air.. - i see the gtx goes to a slightly higher airflow at a pr of 2.. the gtx does do it with a few less shaft rpm.. I still think for a streeter (without headwork etc) the GT42 is probably better.

but hey - im just a nerd at a keyboard - so if you have experience that tells you otherwise - please tell me.

yeah Ive been looking at the precisions only problem there over the 1k mark so ill get hit with taxs and import duty
I seriously looking at the turbonetics TC78 with a 1.15 rear spools very quick and makes good numbers
I dont want huge figures around 400rwkw mark and ill be happy ..in a VK it should go well

Guess I was a bit tired & grumpy this morning. Realistically there is SFA between them for most of the map width.
