Another Drug Racer busted: Omar Sedmak allegedly found with 50kg of weed.

Omar Sedmak went through an RBT, Cops search car and find bags and suitcases containing 50kg of Marijuana.

He pilots a SuperStock A/APA Pontiac Firebird:

The Gold Coast Bulletin has reported that drag racer – Omar Sedmak has been granted bail after being charged with hiding cannabis with a value of $1 million in the boot of his car.
46-year-old Sedmak was stopped around 11am on Wednesday for a routine random breath test on the Gold Coast when officers allegedly found 50kg of the drug in his Holden Statesman.
He was granted bail and is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on June 25.
Sedmak has entered next weekend’s Nitro Champs in the Rocket All Stars Series Super Stock category with his Pontiac.
He is a leading competitor in the category and holds both the national speed and elapsed time records.
A representative from the Australian National Drag Racing Association was unavailable to comment on the matter.

Yeah… I dunno I'd say both are the case. Sure there are guys out there playing cars to burn dirty money, but there are also plenty who just want to go fast and do whatever it takes to get there. that being said, if i saw a spare tyre, a jack, a picnic rug and a bottle of oil on the back seat of a statesman, I guess I'd probably wonder what was in the boot too... but if it was just some loose paper, a few empty coke bottles and some maccas bags, thats a pretty weak excuse..

It's not a million to that bloke unless he has 2000 people a day dropping past his house. They get blase about it after a while. Mates of mine used to do a SA run from Sydney in a bright yellow WRX with 50 to 100 pounds in the boot. The P plates would have been a bit of a giveaway and they drove fast.. They did it for three years once a month and never got so much as breath tested. With the double vacuum bagged pounds you couldn't smell it at all in the car.

Exactly. Haven't been around the drag racing scene for a few years but circa 2005 i know probably 1 in 3 "big name" racers were financed by drug money. Perhaps not in fuel or doorslammer but there were a lot of wannabe gangsters learning the ropes in the lower categories...

from what I've been told you can expect to pay ~4k a pound and that's for a single p, not in wholesale... People that buy in pounds don't tend to do 50 bags or sticks ($25) so realistically it's about 500k.

Out of interest, if you were to hypothetically break it down and sell it as reasonable weight 50s (and I'm talking the whole box and dice), you come out at 704k (and that's with around 14,000 baggies) and an awful lot of foot traffic.
