    Buick V6 assembly question

So I was cleaning the VR's said block to put the heads back on when I ran the air gun into the head bolt holes....and coolant spewed out of the galleries. I was peaking that the block was fucked but apparently that's not the case it's just some gumby design where you have to seal the head bolts to stop coolant rusting the bolts ect.

I don't have the genuine holden stuff and at a guess couldn't get any till Tuesday, is there something non genuine that I can use for this purpose? no.3 aviation gasket sealant perhaps?

Yeah the gm stuff is the go, although from the smell of it I wouldn't be surprised if its just a can of contact adhesive… you could try the aviation stuff but no guarantees. I think glenno also started a thread not long ago about alternatives because he didn't want to pay $50 for the gm stuff. Personally I'd wait and get the right shit

Any sort of engine thread sealant will do the trick. I know I never used the genuine stuff and the engine made about 450hp (single turbo).

I'd probably drain the block before using any sort of sealant into coolant galleys. There's a 10mm bolt goes into each side of the block right in the middle are the drains.

The parents are paying since it's their car so I went with the holden stuff ($50) which co indecently is branded aldecco shit I've seen all the batteries round the place getting switched to. Must be part of Govco's master plan to save holden....
