My mate has a G100 Charade with a twin cam EFI CB70 3 banger in it and its gradually started blowing a heap of smoke, we did a bit of investigating and Ive narrowed it down to a dud turbo, theres a huge amount of shaft play (in both directions, up/down and side to side). Bottom end is healthy and head was done a couple months ago with genuine valve stem seals so Im pretty certain its the turbo.
He needs a replacement fairly quick so Ive worked out its a factory RHB5 turbo which has an odd flange pattern but we've found a couple potential replacements that are listed mostly to suit Isuzu diesels. It needs to be as close to a direct bolt on as possible because he's a tight cunt. The ones to suit Isuzu look to be a straight swap but are they going to be all wrong in terms of housing size/trim etc?
Is he wasting his time with something like this?
